No. 21/2024 (May 20, 2024)
The 6G network is getting closer.
A group of Japanese telecommunications companies has developed a 6G device that can transmit data at 100 Gbps over a distance of 100 meters. This is more than 20 times the theoretical maximum speed of a 5G network. The four companies, which make up a consortium to implement the project – DOCOMO, NTT Corporation, NEC Corporation and Fujitsu, have been working together since 2021 to develop sub-terahertz devices and conduct research. Through their activities, they are giving birth to the 6G era.According to the companies, the test managed to achieve ultra-fast transmission of 100 Gbps in the 100 GHz and 300 GHz bands, at distances of up to 100 meters. Higher speeds are usually associated with operation on higher bands. 5G transmissions are typically transmitted at frequencies below 6 GHz. However, the 6G network is expected to use higher frequency bands, known as sub-terahertz bands, which range from 100 to 300 GHz. According to the consortium, a number of challenges will have to be overcome for the project to succeed, including determining exactly what performance standards wireless devices operating in the sub-terahertz band must meet, and then creating such devices.
Each of the four companies, with the goal of enabling high-speed 6G devices, has made significant contributions to the development of sub-terahertz technology. DOCOMO conducted analyses of wireless system configurations for telecommunications applications in the 100 GHz band. Subsequently, the company designed wireless transmission equipment that can provide data rates of up to 100 Gbps with a range of 100 meters. NTT continued to develop high-end wireless equipment, focusing its efforts on devices operating in the 300 GHz band. The company's efforts have resulted in the development of a top-of-the-line wireless device in the 300 GHz band that can transmit signals at 100 Gbps per channel, at a range of 100 meters. NEC has been involved in researching wireless system solutions tailored to the specific 100 GHz band. The project resulted in a complex active phased array antenna (APAA) consisting of more than 100 antenna elements. Fujitsu focused on developing novel compound semiconductor technologies. Their work resulted in innovations that enabled efficient amplification of signals in the 300 GHz and 100 GHz bands. Notably, with the high-power amplifier, Fujitsu has achieved the world's highest energy efficiency, which is essential for increasing communication range while reducing power consumption.
The greatest challenge seems to be the transmission range when using such high frequencies. If it were to oscillate within a few hundred meters, this would mean limited future use of the technology. That 6G will one day come into being seems a foregone conclusion. Will it be a standard with the potential for mass use like 4G and 5G networks? We will find out in the years to come.
Pole box for surveillance.
Driving a separate cable to each pole (mast, lamppost) on which cameras are to be installed is the most versatile and least labor-intensive solution, if splicing and securing fiber optics is considered. However, this involves a greater amount of work when laying cables and the need to provide more space on the cable route. In this topology, the design of the cable itself, i.e. the method of securing the fibers in it, is of no great importance. It is, of course, to have all the parameters necessary for proper operation in the given environmental conditions and be adequately resistant to tearing when the cable is pulled into the ducting.
The choice of star topology also saves space on the pole itself – the fiber optic cable can be inserted directly into the box where devices such as media converter, PoE switch, video converter or power supply will be mounted. Of course, the fiber optic cable should be properly terminated with a pigtail, and the connection itself (splice) should be secured on a splice tray or in a dedicated fiber optic box. Then the pigtail should be plugged into the fiber optic adapter, and the connection with the device responsible for signal conversion should be made using a patch cord. Do not plug the cable directly into the device! In the future, when performing any service or maintenance work, the installer will only risk damaging the patch cord, and not the cable, which would entail the need to splice the fibers again.
SIGNAL CCTV 210/230/145 mm sealed box is R90601 designed for mounting on a pole, mast or wall. Inside, there is a mounting plate which can be easily removed, and two DIN rails for easy installation of components such as switches, power supplies, media converters or mini fiber optic distribution frames. Additionally, the box has protective wires which can be connected to active devices.
The box can easily accommodate, among others, an industrial switch, power supply, main switch and mini distribution frame in the case of systems based on fiber optic cabling (if this is the case, we recommend the use of ODF-DIN L5312 mini distribution frame). All these elements can be mounted on DIN rails or aluminum mounting plate. Thanks to adequate number and size of cable gland holes, it is possible to lead in and out the cabling for: power supply, fiber optic cable, twisted pair, for connecting up to 4 surveillance cameras.
New, cost-effective indoor stations for Hikvision IP video intercoms.
Dipol now offers two indoor panels designed to support second-generation Hikvision IP video intercoms. These models are designed to meet the basic requirements of customers with limited budgets. The first indoor station, DS-KH6000-E1 G74033, is an audio panel that allows two-way voice communication and control of relays at the door station. The second panel, DS-KH6100-E1 G74034, additionally features a 4.3" LCD screen which enables audio and video connection. A sample diagram showing the use of the described devices is shown below. With local access, the export process is faster, and the user can choose the recording format. The default formats are mp4, avi and a proprietary format (mp4 with additional analytics tags and watermark). When you choose to export via the browser or CMS, the recordings are saved in mp4 format in a local folder of your choice (you can easily check its location by going to settings and then "local bookmarks").
There are three main ways to record:
1. Backup (scissors): on the material being played back, just click the scissors icon. The first click starts recording, and dragging the cursor allows you to select the end. The icon changes to a floppy disk symbol, clicking it confirms the end of the recording.
2. Batch backup: in the table, you can individually select the start and end of the recording and select multiple channels that you want to back up.
3. Playback from events: select cameras, specify the time period and date range to locate the events of interest for playback.

F MASTER connectors in TV/SAT systems.
F-type connectors are used for making connections in coaxial cable systems with the impedance of 75 ohm. They are available in straight and angled versions. They are used in terrestrial, satellite, and cable TV systems, as well as in CCTV systems. The reliability of the connection, attenuation level, and impedance matching in the signal path depend on the design and quality of the connectors. Top quality MASTER crimped connectors guarantee long-term and failure-free operation even in the most harsh environment.MASTER connectors:
Proper design and excellent accuracy of workmanship of the MASTER connectors guarantees trouble-free installation. The connectors have very precise threads which eliminates common difficulties with screwing the connector onto the socket. Crimping method of the connectors ensures high mechanical strength, tightness and stability. To crimp straight connectors on the cable use the universal crimping tool E80075, and for angled connectors use the E80078 tool.

Mounting and securing fiber optic mechanical splices.
When deciding to splice fiber optics using mechanical splices, it is important to keep in mind that standard splice trays, as well as fiber optic boxes and switch boxes, are generally not dimensionally suitable for the installation of mechanical splices. With insufficient space, the installer chooses to hold the splices with insulating tape or, worse, hot adhesive. Alternatively, the splices are left loose which often leads to a mess in the tray or box.Mechanical splicing does not preclude the use of solutions designed for thermal splicing (cassettes, boxes, etc.). However, be sure to buy the right holders for them. DIPOL offers two products that can be used depending on the number of splices to be protected:
