Chinese satellites in the service of autonomous transportation.

Chinese automaker Geely Holding Group has announced that it has placed 11 satellites in low Earth orbit that will provide more accurate navigation for autonomous vehicles. The satellites were launched from the Satellite Launch Center in Xichang, in southwestern Sichuan Province.
Geely forecasts that it will have 72 satellites in orbit by the end of 2025, and eventually 240. In addition to providing highly accurate navigation for autonomous cars, the satellite network will also make the Internet commercially available for consumer electronics devices.
Chinese automaker Geely Holding Group of Zhejiang, announced that a second rocket was launched on February 3 from the Satellite Launch Center in Xichang, China.
Geely's satellite system is expected to boast much higher precision and recognize objects as small as one meter in size. Of course, the new system is to be just one of many data sources to be used by autonomous vehicles.
In its current 2021-2025 plan, Beijing has called for an integrated satellite network for communications, remote sensing and navigation. According to state media, there are already more than 400 Chinese satellites in orbit (including commercial ones, of course).

AS07STCA-4K for RF/SAT signals.

In residential buildings, it must be verified that the RF/SAT system has been properly installed before acceptance by the inspector. It is verified whether the devices have been connected in the right way and whether no mistakes have been made in the design of the network, regarding, for example, the distances from heat emitting devices or in wet rooms. At the first stage of the inspection, it is also determined whether there is visible mechanical damage, and the condition of the cabling and connections is checked. All this information should be included in a report prepared before commissioning the system. Another important element is the measurement of terrestrial and satellite TV signals. To do this, it is best to use a device that has the appropriate certificate of calibration.

The above video demonstrates the most important functions of ALPSAT's AS07STCA-4K R10206 professional meter, which can measure DVB-S/DVB-S2 (4K) satellite signals, DVB-T/T2 (4K) terrestrial TV signals in HEVC 10 Bit compression and C/J.83B/ISDB-T cable signals.

Testing the fiber optic system.

The Ultimode OR-20-S3S5-iSMV L5830 is a simple-to-use but functional device for testing fiber optic systems. The device allows reflectometric measurements to be made in a traditional manner (with a reflectogram and event table) or in an automated form (iOLA function), in which the device automatically selects the measurement parameters and presents the results in a user-friendly graphical format.
OTDR/fibre optic network tester: ULTIMODE OR-20-S3S5-iSMV
One of the advantages of the OTDR L5830 is the ability to generate a professional report of the measurements taken. The progressive development of fibre optics in the low-current system industry brings with it a greater awareness on the part of investors, who increasingly require the preparation of appropriate measurement documentation, even for relatively small projects. The free application OTDR Assistant for PC allows the reading of *.sor (Telcordia SR-4731 standard) measurement files generated by the OTDR for accurate analysis. It is possible to freely navigate through the reflectogram, zoom in on parts of it, or determine the attenuation of a given section or event using markers (2-point method, 4-point method, LSA method). The application also has an iOLA plugin for reading the *tor files generated when the results of the iOLA module are saved.
The saved files and the above-mentioned software allow the generation of measurement reports in *.pdf or *.xls format. The Measurement Report Wizard gives you a choice as to the format and content of the report. You can choose between a one-page document containing basic information, or advanced reports including such data as a reflectogram, event tables, or graphical representation of the measured link.

Controlling the second relay with a password in Hikvision's modular IP video door stations.

JIf a keypad is connected to the door stations of a modular IP video door entry system (DS-KD8003-IME1(B) G73652) or the 2-wire one (DS-KD8003Y-IME2 G73646), it is possible to control the first or second relay built into the door station with a password. In order to control the second relay, the door station must be updated to 2.2.62 or higher firmware version. After entering the settings of the door station from the iVMS-4200 application, go to Door phone → Settings and select the option to add a password. During the adding process, it will be possible to assign a password and select the relay that will be triggered when it is used. Up to 16 public passwords can be added directly at the door station.
View of the window after adding a public password and indicating the relay, that will be triggered when it is entered.

WiFi networks in office buildings.

When designing a wireless network, you need to answer the question of whether it is to be a public network such in a library or office, or a network closed to the employees of the office, institution or warehouse. This relates directly to determining the expected number of clients of the network.
If the network is to operate in an office building with a large number of walls, several floors, then the main problem is the impact of wall and ceiling attenuation on the radio signal level. For this reason, in order to cover the entire building it is necessary to deploy in it several dozen (and sometimes even dozens) access points.
One access point can usually serve about 50-60 users. This means that in most cases an office network designed on a dozen or more access points will offer huge redundancy in terms of theoretical capacity. However, note that if certain areas of the network are to be public, then in such a place the number of access points will be determined not only by the ability to cover the area, but primarily by the capacity. A large number of users gathering in one place may force the need to system more access points, even in smaller rooms.
A good device for building networks in such buildings is TP-LINK EAP610 N25690. The EAP610 is a flexible, easy to install and manage, and secure solution for wireless networks. It can be easily mounted to a wall or a ceiling. WlAN configuration and management are simplified through centralized software and web-based management (no need of a controller). Automatic bandwidth management and captive portal authentication make the EAP610 ideal for demanding environments such as campuses, hotels, shopping malls or offices. The device works on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands in the 802.11ax (WiFi 6) standard.

What does SMD+, SMD 3.0, SMD 4.0 mean?

SMD stands for Smart Motion Detection, or Intelligent Motion Detection (IMD). It is a function that can analyze motion detection events for human or vehicle detection. Thanks to that, alarm notifications are filtered and unnecessary alarms are blocked. In a system with a compatible NVR, the recordings can be filtered in terms of human or vehicle detection.
SMD/SMD+ is the basic version of intelligent motion detection. Its operation requires less powerful AI chips, so it is present in the basic camera series. If a more accurate analysis is needed, SMD 3.0 or 4.0 should be used.
A comparison of the different generations of SMD functions is shown in the table below:
  SMD/SMD+ SMD 3.0 SMD 4.0
Human detection range (2.8 mm) 7 m 12 m 12 m
Vehicle detection range (2.8 mm) 10 m 18 m 18 m
Accuracy Overall 95% 99.0% 99.0%
Small animals - 99.0% 99.5%
Large animals 95.0% 98.0%
SMD 4.0 also has a Quick Pick function, which allows you to search for a person of interest (car) by the color of the clothes (body). It works in conjunction with the DVR, when playing back the recording, all you have to do is select an object of interest like a person or vehicle. The AI-based algorithm will search and mark recordings with objects in a similar color scheme.
