A Chinese startup has built a battery that can power a phone for up to 50 years.
Chinese company Betavolt has unveiled a new modular nuclear battery that uses a combination of a radioactive isotope of nickel and a fourth-generation diamond semiconductor. The new type of battery will be able to power a device for up to 50 years. Fusion batteries may seem like something very advanced, but in various forms they have been around since the early 1950s. Most of them are so-called radioisotope generators converting the heat given off during the decay of radioactive elements into electricity using a thermocouple or Stirling engine.View of the Betavolt BV100 battery disassembled
Named BV100, Betavolt's new battery uses two layers of semiconductors made of monocrystalline diamond, each 10 μm thick, sandwiched between a 2-micron layer of the nickel isotope Ni-63. Any such combination, which resembles a sandwich, can generate electricity. The layers can also be stacked or connected together like traditional galvanic cells to form hundreds of independent unit modules that work together. The entire structure is enclosed in a housing that protects against radiation and physical damage. The BV100 has very small dimensions of 15 x 15 x 5 mm and can generate 100 μW at 3 V. The application scenarios for such a solution could be many, ranging from powering space-based equipment, medical equipment, small drones and even powering phones. According to Betavolt, the BV100 is in the pilot phase with a view to mass production. A larger 1W version is expected in 2025. The energy density of the BV100 is 10 times greater than that of lithium batteries and is not prone to fire or explosion. As it generates electricity rather than storing it as a chemical reaction, there are no problems related to charging cycles. Ni-63 eventually decays into non-radioactive copper, posing minimal risk to the environment.
Simple monitoring system with face recognition.
Hikvision's NXI-K and NXI-I series IP DVRs feature face capture and analysis on a specified number of channels. It is possible to create libraries of faces that will later be used to search the recordings. Related actions can also be specified that will be executed in case of a correct or incorrect comparison between a detected face and a face that is in the library, such as triggering a beep in the recorder, an alarm in the monitoring center, sending an e-mail, controlling an alarm output, etc. Faces, already recorded on the DVR or from an external source, can be added to the library. Recordings stored on the DVR, can be easily and quickly searched after pointing to a specific face, on channels on which the face recording and comparison function was active. The diagram below shows a monitoring system based on the 7608NXI-K2 K22076 DVR. Connected to the DVR are 7 DS-2CD2046G2-I K03141 cameras which are used for general monitoring. A DS-2CD2646G2-IZS K05313 ( K05313B black) 4 MP camera has been connected on one channel, which is used in conjunction with the DVR functionality for face analysis and search. Remote access to the system from the external network is provided by the Mercusys MW305R N2931 router.

Terra: terrestrial TV, radio and signal from 2 satellites in 1 fibre.
Terra's optical TV signal transmission system offers the possibility of using two different transmitters within one system. These transmitters have the same functionality (conversion of TV signals from coaxial cable to optical fibre), with one transmitter generating a signal at 1310 nm wavelength (A3031) and the other at 1550 nm wavelength (A3055).The use of two different transmitters allows the signals they generate to be combined into a single fibre. To combine the signals (and to separate them on the other side of the fibre), a so-called WDM coupler L383521 is used. This element operates similarly to a traditional TV crossover.
An advantage of distributing the signal in a single fibre, apart from the obvious fact of using one fibre instead of two, is that there is less work involved in splicing the pigtails and no need to duplicate passive infrastructure such as splitters to split the signal. When using two transmitters generating a signal at the same wavelength (e.g. 1310 nm) and distributing TV signals in two different fibres, it is essentially necessary to build two parallel systems for splitting the signal into 2 paths will require two splitters, and so on.
The diagram below shows a schematic of a Terra optical system using 2 transmitters: A3031 and A3055. This divides the signal on 1 splitter A98882. The idea of the whole system is to feed DVB-T/T2, radio and SAT signals from two satellites to two MV-932L R70882 multiswitches. Upstream of the multiswitches, optical signals are distributed to 2 A3133 receivers.

House amplifiers in SMATV systems.
One of the key parts of a coaxial path in cable networks are broadband amplifiers. They are mainly designed to amplify the higher frequency RF signal so as to enable its further distribution (loss compensation on passive network elements: cabling, splitters, sockets). Broadband amplifiers are devices enabling the transmission of signals in the forward (to the subscriber) and reverse (from the subscriber) directions. The implementation of 5G technology on the released 700 MHz band, so far used by DVB-T digital terrestrial television, resulted in the expansion of DIPOL offering with models of house amplifiers with an integrated signal filter LTE 700.The table below shows several examples of Terra's building TV amplifiers along with their basic parameters. Each of them amplifies the signal in the band up to 694 MHz, so they are ready to work in systems built in 5G network coverage areas in the band above 700 MHz.

Device groups in the iVMS-4200 client application.
After adding the DVR to the iVMS-4200 application, it may happen that the cameras supported by the DVR are not visible in the main view window of the app. This may occur if, when adding the DVR, the Import to group option is not checked. This problem can be solved in several ways. The first way is to remove the DVR and re-add it to the application with the Import to Group tab checked. The second way is to go to the Device Management -> Group tab and create a group by device name. Once the DVR is indicated in the list, a group will be created along with encoding channels and other permissions, such as alarm inputs, access control points, etc. The third option is to manually create a group, give it its own name and import selected cameras from the indicated DVRs or cameras added directly to the DVR. The last option allows you to flexibly adjust the group as needed.Small diameter twisted pair cable.
