Tattoo that can wirelessly transmit data.

Researchers from two Turkish universities have created a nano-tattoo that can be applied anywhere on the body (or on other surfaces). Once applied, the device can transmit data wirelessly, without using wires or having its own power source.
The tattoos consist of two different paints applied in layers on top of each other. One consists of zinc oxide nanoparticles with nanowires embedded in them. On top of this is a conductive paint in the form of an aerogel, containing graphene. By adding a small amount of aerogel to the bottom layer as well, the two paints are able to bond strongly to each other. The layers are applied to the skin simultaneously using two needles.
The unique composition of the nano-tattoo allows it to generate energy through a piezoelectric effect as the tattoo changes shape during hand movements. Connectivity is provided by a communication technique called backscattering communication. It involves modulating the surrounding radio signals with its own information and reflecting it to another device. This allows a connection to be established between the tattoo and a smartphone, which can continuously monitor the radio signals emitted by the tattoo. These signals must be interpreted using an artificial intelligence algorithm. Researchers have succeeded in solving two of the major issues that have long been present in skin-worn devices - how to power and seamlessly read data from the device in real-world conditions.
Electronic epidermal devices are a rapidly developing field of technology, full of extraordinary potential in a variety of areas. These devices are expected to integrate seamlessly into the surface of the skin, enabling non-invasive monitoring and interaction with our bodies. One of the key application areas is in the healthcare field. These innovative devices can act as precise measurements of vital signs such as heart rate, body temperature, blood pressure and oxygen levels, providing us with this information in real time. They are not only for health, but also have applications in the field of sports and fitness, allowing us to track performance indicators such as movement, muscle activity and hydration levels. In addition, these devices have great potential in the field of augmented reality making it possible to create interactive experiences through the direct use of sensors and components placed on the skin.

Signal T2-MINI DVB-T2 HEVC – ideal solution for hotels.

At present, the most popular TV source used in most guesthouses and small hotels is DVB-T/T2 digital terrestrial TV. Unfortunately, not every TV set is capable of receiving DVB-T2/HEVC standard. DIPOL offers easy to implement and economically optimal solution to this problem. One of the interesting solutions are DVB-T2 Signal T2-MINI A99313 receivers dedicated for hotels.
Sticky mounting pads /10 pcs. pack/
The Signal A99313 receiver mounted on the back of the TV set using two mounting pads E950230/E950231 and cable clamps E952054. The pads can also be used for neat arrangement of the cabling. The receiver installed this way remains 9 mm away from the TV which ensures good ventilation. The total installation height does not exceed 25 mm which makes it possible to easily hang the TV on a wall using any LCD bracket without the risk of damaging the wall or the receiver itself.
The features of Signal T2-MINI receiver that are important for hotel systems:
  • Signal T2-MINI is powered with 5 VDC from the TV's USB port. Therefore, turning on the TV also turns the receiver on. This allows the receiver and its connected cabling to be hidden behind the TV. After turning off the TV set the receiver draws no current.
  • The remote control supplied with Signal T2-MINI enables the user to control the receiver and the TV set simultaneously (after a simple procedure of programming the remote control). The TV is provided with the ability to turn it on and off, adjust the volume, and change the video input. This avoids the need to use two remote controls. In case you lose your tuner remote control you can buy one for yourself.
  • Signal T2-MINI has a Hotel mode function. When enabled, the user can only view the channel list, change the program, change the soundtrack and adjust the volume. All other functions remain locked and require a predefined password to change. The customer, having remote control of the tuner, cannot reprogram either the TV or the receiver.
  • Signal T2-MINI enables the export and upload of a list of channels and receiver settings from an USB memory. So all you need to do is just program one receiver, arrange the list of channels according as needed, make a copy of the data and upload it to every other receiver in seconds.

Hybrid TV/SAT system.

The diagram below shows a concept of a terrestrial and satellite TV system proposed to the customer in response to an inquiry for distributing signals on a property that includes a residential building (with 10 terminal outlets) and an outbuilding on which an antenna set is to be mounted (2 TV/SAT outlets).
Since only 1 antenna set is to be installed and there is a considerable distance between the buildings (150 m), it was decided to use the Terra multiswitch solution in combination with optical transmission system from the same manufacturer.

Diagram of the TV/SAT multiswitch stystem in two buildings 150 meters apart, connected by fiber optic cable.
The satellite signal is received with a 120 cm diameter steel dish DPL-120 A9682 and a Terra LWB202L A98210 wideband converter suitable for use with optical transmitters. The antennas used for receiving terrestrial TV and radio signals are, respectively: UHF - A2670, VHF - A0710 and FM - A0221. The signals pass successively through a C0340 crossover, an Alcad CAD-804 R82620 channel amplifier and an MCA101T R82101 frequency converter. The role of the amplifier is, among other things, to equalize the signal levels for individual multiplexes before feeding them into the frequency converter.
The multiswitch bus is based on single-mode universal fiber L77004. The bus is divided into two paths by a splitter A98882. In an outbuilding, due to the small number of outlets, Terra ORF302 E A3135 receiver with wideband + DVB-T output and Terra SRM-522 R80522 multiswitch are used to receive optical signals. Meanwhile, in the apartment building, the receiver used was ORQ302 E A3133 with Quatro + DVB-T output and Terra MV-512 R70712 multiswitch.

Surveillance system using ColorVu cameras from Hikvision's Easy IP 4.0 series.

The diagram below shows a surveillance system for a block of flats based on a Hikvision IP DVR and ColorVu cameras from the Easy IP 4.0 series. The key feature of this series is scene monitoring in color mode around the clock, so the color related information is preserved regardless of the prevailing lighting conditions. In addition, these cameras are supported with AcuSense technology, which allows to classify human-vehicle type objects and thus filter out almost all false alarms. The outside area around the building is monitored by eight DS-2CD2047G2-L (C) K03118 compact cameras with 4 MP resolution and 2.8 mm lens with 112° viewing angle. Inside the building, there are four ceiling cameras Turret DS-2CD2347G2-L (C) K00306 with 4 MP resolution, equipped with 2.8 mm lenses with 112° viewing angle. The cameras have a white light illuminator with a range of 40 m (outdoor) and 30 m indoor). The illuminator can turn on automatically when there is little light to provide good quality color images. In most cases, when street or staircase lighting is available, the camera works with the illuminator turned off.
The proposed deployment of cameras allows accurate identification of people. The cameras are powered and connected to the NVR via the N29986 16-port PoE switch. The cameras support the following codecs: H265+, H.265, H.264+, H.264. With the use of two 4 TB hard drives, e.g. M89305, H.265 video compression and continuous recording mode at 25 fps for each camera, the data retention time is 14 days.
Simulation of archiving time of recordings using Storage and Network Calculator program
A state-of-the-art DS-7616NXI-K2 K22146 DVR was used as the video recording device, which supports VCA analytics (virtual line, intrusion area, etc.), motion detection 2.0 and face analysis function. Monitoring access from the external network is provided by the Mercusys AC12G N2933 router.

Use of outdoor twisted-pair cables.

Outdoor telecom cables usually have a sheath made of polyethylene (PE). This material is tougher and has greater mechanical strength than the polyvinyl chloride (PVC) used in indoor cables. What is also important, this material is much more resistant to UV rays, so the lifespan of outdoor cables exposed to sunlight is much longer compared to indoor cables operating under the same conditions.
The video below shows typical problem of using PVC-coated cable to connect an outdoor antenna with a router. The cable laid along the facade, exposed to high and low temperatures, as well as to sunlight and rain, cracks after several years at the latest. Afterwards, water gets inside, and after a short time, due to gravitational force, it "flows" down to the router. This may of course damage of the router itself and, in case of large accumulation of water in the area of the router, damage of other elements, such as furniture.
Water leaking from the cable can be the result of using an indoor twisted-pair cable on the outside of the building. Installers mitigate the effects of cable breaks by creating loops that prevent water from flowing downward, but this is an ad hoc measure. It will be more reliable to combine these measures with the use of the right kind of cabling.

DIPOL offers the following types of outdoor twisted pair cables:
  • NETSET U/UTP 5e cable gel-filled, black twisted pair, outdoor E1410_305
  • NETSET U/UTP PE 5e cable black twisted pair, outdoor E1412_305
  • NETSET BOX F/UTP 5e cable shielded twisted pair, E1517_305
