It is getting really fast – 1.84 Pbps!
A group of researchers from Sweden and Denmark have developed a chipset that enables data transfer at a dizzying 1.84 Pbps (petabits per second). This is almost twice the speed of all global internet traffic. The new data transfer speed record was achieved by an international group of researchers from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and Sweden's Chalmers University of Technology. Even more impressive is that this new speed record was set using a single light source and a single optical system. Currently, it would take more than 1,000 lasers to achieve the same transmission speed using state-of-the-art equipment. The main idea of the Scandinavian researchers is to design a special optical system that uses a laser in the IR (infrared) range and then splits the light into hundreds of different colors (frequencies). The data can then be encoded by modulating the amplitude, phase and polarization of each of these frequencies, before being recombined into a single beam and transmitted over an optical fiber.Group of scientists from Sweden and Denmark developed a chipset with the help of which data transfer of 1.84 Pbps was achieved. The experiment was conducted over a distance of 7.9 kilometers using 223 transmission channels, which took 37 optical fibers.
By comparison, the global Internet bandwidth was estimated at just over 1 Pbps, meaning that this system could potentially handle the entire Internet on Earth, and by a wide margin. Using a computational model to scale the new technology's data rate potential, researchers say it could eventually reach staggering speeds as high as 100 Pbps. The latest findings could mark a shift in the design of future communications systems, targeting efficient transmitters and receivers.
One of the most popular is the Signal HD H3614 HDMI to IP converter, which allows to connect a high-definition (HD) signal to a receiver (TV set, monitor) equipped with an HDMI connector via CAT 5e or cat. 6 using multicast transmission.
The bit rate of the compressed signal at the transmitter output is approx. 30 Mbps. A dedicated receiver is required for correct decoding of the signal – preview on a PC with a network adapter is not possible.
Transmission using twisted-pair cable and IP technology.
The IP signal coming out of the transmitter can be fed to an Ethernet switch, such as N29915, in order to divide it into a larger number of receivers. The maximum number of receivers is 253. There cannot be more than one transmitter in one network. In order to connect more transmitters, a VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network, VLAN), a computer network logically separated within another larger physical network, can be used.
An additional receiver used to work with the H3614 transmitter can be found under the code H3614R and H3606R (if the H3606R is used, its remote control operation function will be unusable). An important element is the hardware version of the receivers - it must be the same as the transmitters (information about the hardware version is on the bottom of the device).

###03##TV/SAT system – MV-9xx multiswitches from TERRA. For multi-family buildings whose TV system is to provide reception of satellite signals from two satellites, DIPOL offers multiswitch solutions net9 from TERRA. The offered solution is widely used in the British, German, Australian markets, among others. In Poland, since 2004, TERRA professional multiswitches have received unwavering recognition for building large SMATV systems. Excellent performance, stability of parameters, very low failure rate, make these multiswitches can be recommended even to the most demanding customers.
Multiswitch system with taps for two satellite positions. Using Triset-113 E1015_500 coaxial cable, an 11-cable trunk line is routed to the server room where the SA-91DL TERRA R70911 broadband amplifier was placed enabling amplification and equalization of IF signals for 8 polarization-band pairs, as well as powering all active devices in the system, such as LNBs and multiswitches. Due to the stable level of terrestrial TV signals to the Terr. TV input of the amplifier SA-91DL TERRA R70911 was connected to the DVB-T2 signal. However, as practice shows, in many cases it is recommended to use a separate channel amplifier, e.g. PA-420T TERRA R82516, which allows to equalize signal levels for individual multiplexes, to introduce DVB-T2 signals into the multiswitch system. The cabling topology is based on a 9-cable trunk line going down stair case. For each floor, installation of an RF box equipped with a tap + multiswitch set, from which the cables go in star topology to the final outlets, is planned.
Bira's new series of current-consuming door strikes.
A new series of HARTTE XS00 electric strikes by Bira, distinguished by small dimensions and low current consumption, is available from Dipol. The electric strikes can be powered by DC or AC voltage in the range from 12-24 V. When powered by AC 12 V, the minimum current consumption is 185 mA, while when powered by DC 12 V, the minimum current consumption is 260 mA. In addition, if the electric door strike is powered by DC 12 V, it can operate continuously. Thanks to the symmetrical design, the electric strikes of this series are perfect for left and right doors of different types. The strikes can be adjusted up to 3.5 mm. The radial shape means that they do not go beyond the outline of the electric strike and require a smaller hole, which makes installation faster and easier. Each model has a different functionality. Standard, memory, toggle or combination models are available.Building a house? Think of fiber optics.
When designing or building a house, a lot is said about proper planning of cabling for low-current systems. However, laying the right cables outside the house at an early stage is often forgotten. Usually, apart from power cables, these include twisted-pair cables (e.g. for video intercom, surveillance cameras, intelligent house system elements etc.).At the stage of construction works, it is also good to think about burying an optical fiber in the ground, which in the future can be used by the Internet provider. From year to year, the optical fiber infrastructure in less urbanized areas is systematically growing. Hundreds of kilometers of overhead networks are built, owned by municipalities as well as by larger and smaller operators. It is very likely that in the nearest future, if not immediately, the fiber optic infrastructure will be built near the house under construction.
The L79302 ground cable is a cost-effective, reliable and simple solution. Two single-mode fibers in G.657A1 standard will allow to provide Internet and other services.
With the cable buried in the ground, and with a little effort of the service provider, it is possible to avoid running overhead cable over the plot, which not only affects the overall looks, but also has to be laid on the side of the house, on the external facade or already inside the building. Burying the optical fibre in the ground during the construction phase, and bringing it to the multimedia cabinet, which is the meeting point of all cabling, will pay off in the future.
