DVB introduces VCC – successor to HEVC.
The DVB organization strives to stay ahead of trends and demand in multimedia transmission techniques. Although the HEVC codec is used, among others, in the 2nd generation DVB-T2 digital terrestrial TV implemented in Europe, the most popular codec used in practice by cable and satellite operators is the legacy H.264. Meanwhile, DVB has introduced video and audio coding for broadcast and broadband applications into its specification using a new coding standard – VVC (Versatile Video Coding). DVB is thus the first organization whose standards will include a next-generation video codec.
The VVC mechanism description was published in November 2020 and the standard is the latest member of a family of video coding standards jointly developed by ISO/IEC MPEG and ITU-T VCEG. It is able to encode video with an average of 50% higher bit rate saving at the same subjective quality compared to the HEVC codec (a predecessor in the same family). This makes the VVC one of the most efficient video coding technologies currently available. The modified DVB-AVC specification includes four points of compatibility for the new VVC codec. Its main requirement is a base receiver capable of supporting resolutions up to 4K (3840 × 2160) with HDR. The other three additional compliance points include support for high frame rates (HFR) and resolutions up to 8K (7680 × 4320).
DVB-T2 at home.
In Q2 2022, Poland will transition to the new DVB-T2/HEVC digital terrestrial television broadcasting standard. The new standard offers many advantages in the form of better bandwidth utilization (greater multiplex capacity) and a much more efficient data compression standard – High Efficiency Video Codec (HEVC)/H.265. Only a TV set using this system (or equipped with a STB receiver – DVB-T2/HEVC tuner) will be able to correctly play back video and sound.
DVB-T/T2 Receiver: T2-BOX DVB-T2 HEVC Signal
An unquestionable advantage of the SIGNAL T2-BOX A99314 receiver is the ability to control a TV set and the receiver with only one remote control. The receiver remote control has 5 programmable buttons: on/off, change signal source, volume. After programming the remote control of the tuner with the TV remote control, there is no need to use the original TV remote control. Furthermore, the SIGNAL T2-BOX A99314 supports HDMI CEC function. If your TV also supports HDMI CEC (and this function is enabled) then turning on/off the tuner turns on/off the TV. Practical application of the L5304 box. In theory, the box is designed for mounting 4 SC simplex adapters and terminating 4 optical fibres. In practice however it is possible to fit up to 8 splices and use LC duplex adapters.
Fast firmware update in Hikvision devices.
Batch Configuration allows for quick software update, configuration, activation and resetting to factory defaults of Hikvision devices. When building a new monitoring system it often happens that the purchased devices have different, outdated firmware versions. Updating them after logging in via a browser may take a long time, particularly in the case of complex systems 32 or 64 cameras. The entire process can be made faster with Batch Configuration by quick batch updating of identical devices, or devices belonging to the same hardware platform, or by individual updating of every single device.To perform a batch update:
- run Batch Configuration with administrator privileges,
- add all devices to the software,
- select the devices to be updated,
- press the Upgrade button,
- indicate access path to the firmware file saved on the computer's hard disk,
- confirm with OK to begin the upgrade process.

When using H3643 converters, there is no (video and sound) signal delay at the input and output of the kit. This is particularly important when you want to use remote control of devices through the built-in USB extension cable.

Hotel mode in Signal T2-MINI receivers.. Hotel mode is a function practically unheard of in DVB-T2 receivers which allows to block the possibility of changing any parameters in the receiver's menu. When enabled, the user can only view the channel list, change the program, change the soundtrack and adjust the volume. All other functions remain locked and require a predefined password to change. In the hotel mode, the receiver starts with channel 1 (from software version DIPOL_V5.2.1.28). It can be used for broadcasting advertising program of the hotel on this channel.
