Will artificial intelligence be the remedy for traffic jams?
There is no doubt that proper control of vehicle flow can improve the smoothness and capacity of an intersection. A conventional system cannot respond to the current traffic situation, it only relies on predefined assumptions that the number of vehicles changes at certain times. Some intersections take into account data from an induction loop or infrared beams that detect whether there are waiting vehicles in a lane, but this applies to less frequently used lanes and is not the best solution. Researchers at Germany's Fraunhofer Society have demonstrated in simulations that deep learning algorithms can improve smoothness by 15% over the standard approach. The simulations were based on data from an actual intersection, where the number of vehicles, green light wait times and crossing speeds were measured. The researchers are currently investigating whether the practice follows the theory and have installed the system at intersections in the German city of Lemgo. Named KI4LSA, the project involves controlling traffic lights based on current data about vehicle traffic (how many vehicles there are, how long they have to wait) and pedestrians. High-resolution cameras and radar sensors are used to record the actual traffic situation. This data is fed into a specialized deep learning algorithm, which intelligently controls the operation of traffic lights, replacing the usual rigid control rules. This uses deep learning by reinforcement (DRL) algorithms, a machine learning method that focuses on finding intelligent solutions to complex control problems. These programs run on a computer located in a control box at the intersection. One advantage of the algorithms is that they can be tested, used and scaled to account for neighboring lights that form a more extensive network. Testing will continue for several more months and more intersections will be added to the project if the assumptions are confirmed in practice.
Simulation of vehicle behavior at a critical intersection in Berlin. A research project by Telekom Innovation Laboratories (T-Labs) aims to optimize traffic flow in the city using artificial intelligence. Five cameras installed at the intersection record the movement of vehicles, and an algorithm controls the traffic depending on the volume of traffic.
Installation of TERRA MR-9xx series radial multiswitches in a RACK cabinet.
The RACK board ZMD-1 R77311 front mounting assembly is a set of two brackets for mounting in a RACK cabinet. It has dedicated holes for mounting of TERRA MR-xxx multiswitches (hole spacing: height 120 mm, width 100/140/180 mm). The M5x10 bolts and nuts are included. The vertical spacing of the elements is chosen so that the cables connected to the multiswitch input connectors have enough space to maintain the minimum bending radius. It is even possible to install Signal R48602 surge protectors. The set includes eight screws with caged nuts, used to assemble the unit in the cabinet.Front assembly component ZMD-1 R77311 for installing TERRA MR-xxx multiswitches
Signal Fire – FTTH splicing.
Signal Fire splicers prove to be perfect in fiber optic connections in the last mile systems, i.e. at end customer connection. These splicers are particularly widely used by installers performing fiber optic cabling in multi-family housing, which consists in connecting each apartment with a telecommunication room by means of a double-fiber single-mode fiber optic cable.Motion detection v2.0 in the Hikvision monitoring system.
The most important task of a motion detection system is to detect the entry of a person or a vehicle to the monitored area. Each motion detection can generate an alarm event (e.g. notification to the user, guard or operator) and start video recording. Traditional motion detection was based on changes in the light intensity reaching a pixel (or larger clusters of pixels) of the sensor. Each change of light triggered detection so the system also caught the movement of objects that are not important from the point of view of security. It was sensitive to, for example, leaves moved by wind, flying insects, birds, shadows or precipitation. The new motion detection system 2.0 can analyze detection events in terms of human or vehicle detection. Thanks to that, alarm notifications are filtered and unnecessary alarms are blocked. Motion detection 2.0 is available in EasyIP 2.0 Plus and EasyIP 4.0 series IP cameras with G2 marking. In a system with a DVR, the recordings can be filtered in terms of human or vehicle detection.Playback progress bar (iVMS-4200) of a DVR that supports cameras with the 2 gen. Acusense function. GSM signal boosting.
It is often the case that cell phone conversations are difficult or even impossible in buildings. This is caused by signal attenuation through walls, windows, or ceilings (underground). Most often such problems occur in supermarkets, tunnels, parking lots, gas stations, airports and hotels. Similarly, it may be encountered in buildings located at the border of the range of base stations (recreational areas). In the deployment of indoor antennas one should pay attention to the number of rooms to be covered by the amplified signal and their surface area. During the installation it is important to keep in mind the long distance between the indoor and outdoor antennas. In the case of roof installation, you should start from the lowest level as it is possible to cover two floors with a single antenna. DIPOL has three antennas dedicated for signal repeaters. These are TRANS-DATA A741001, A741002, and A741021.
