IBM has created 2 nm chips.

IBM claims to have made a significant breakthrough in computer processor manufacturing. All of this is thanks to a new 2-nanometer technology that allows 50 billion transistors to be packed in a chip the size of a fingernail. The new chip has been developed in IBM's test laboratory. It is worth to mention that the process of manufacturing computer chips is measured in nanometers (nm), where a smaller number usually means a technology step forward in the creation of new chips.

According to IBM, the test chip can improve the performance by 45% over 7 nm products currently on the market. Importantly, the chip is more energy efficient, as it uses 75% less power (while maintaining the performance of 7 nm chips).

The leading processor players, Intel and AMD, have announced that their 2-nanometer processors will not see the light of day for several years. This further highlights how unique the IBM's achievement is in this regard.

The "extend mode" function in a PoE switch.

The "extend mode" feature, usually activated via a switch on the housing, allows for powering PoE devices connected to a maximum of 250 meters of twisted-pair cable. When activated, the switch on the PoE ports disables auto-negotiation of connection speed and firmly sets the speed to 10 Mbps (the uplink ports continue to operate at 10/100 Mbps).

An example of a PoE switch with the "extend mode" function is ULTIPOWER 0064afat N29978. It has 6 ports supporting automatic connection speed negotiation. Four of them support the Power over Ethernet (PoE). The switch automatically detects PD devices compliant with IEEE 802.3af or IEEE 802.3at and supplies them. This makes it possible to extend the range of the network to locations with no access to power lines or outlets, and where access points, IP cameras, IP phones, etc. have to be located. The maximum total power of the devices supplied must not exceed 65 W.

How to solve the problem of voltage drop on a long power line?

The PSCU04344SEP M1833 power supply is designed to power devices over long cable sections. In order to eliminate voltage drops on a device caused by current flowing through a conductor with significant resistance, the power supply delivers DC voltage increased to 30-35 V to the power line. The cameras are equipped with DCDC10H M1834 converters providing stable 12 VDC voltage with a maximum current of 0.8 A. The PSU features 4 independent, galvanically separated outputs protected by fuses.

Family of Signal TV brackets.

The choice of a bracket for hanging a TV set on the wall comes down to three main features: load capacity, size and mounting standard. The most important criterion is the load capacity of the wall bracket, since it directly affects the safety of the receiver and the people staying near it.

Each of the brackets listed in the table below can be adjusted horizontally. However due to the construction and design solutions used this adjustment may not be permanent. The TV will tilt to the left or right when the setting is adjusted. This is the case with cheaper solutions intended for fixed TV positioning. For those who want to adjust the TV position, e.g. depending on whether it is watched from behind the table or from the sofa, we recommend the LPA16-444AX E93164 and LPA19-442 E93168 brackets. The rigid structure, bushings and adjustable smoothness of movement will satisfy the most demanding customers.

Zero channel in Hikvision DVRs.

At times, it is necessary to get a real-time view of multiple DVR channels using a web browser or CMS client software. In Hikvision DVRs, there is an option of encoding the zero channel where, with a small stream, without degrading the quality of recorded video, you can get the image from all cameras in one window in a remote client or in a web browser. In the zero channel settings, it is possible to set such parameters as maximum bitrate (up to 2 Mbps) and maximum frame rate (up to 25 fps).

The parameters may vary slightly depending on the firmware version of the NVR. The live view can be configured in the local user interface and the channel can be activated locally or remotely, directly from the NVR.

Real-life example of a simple fiber optic distribution frame.

The following pictures show an examplary implementation of a budget fiber optic distribution frame L51340 designed to be mounted in a rack. 8 out of 12 fibers of the universal cable L76012 are terminated in the distribution frame. The L3551 SC pigtail was used to terminate the fiber, which was then plugged into the L4211 adapter. The adapters were bolted to the faceplate using the screws provided with the switch.

Due to possible further expansion of the frame (4 fibers are not terminated), one of the front panels has been protected with SC Simplex blank plugs, and another, due to low probability of use, has been replaced with L51342 blank front panel guaranteeing protection against dirt, dust, etc.
