A single receiver and "antenna" for the whole 0 - 100 GHz spectrum?
American army scientists have developed a receiver that allows to detect signals almost over the entire radio frequency spectrum, from 0 to 100 GHz. The invention may help enhance communication among US army soldiers and reduce the need for unwieldy equipment in the field. Traditional receiver systems are unable to cover such a broad spectrum with a single receiver and antenna. Even with several extra systems consisting of amplifiers and antennas, traditional solutions still fall far short of the universal range of the new quantum sensor, which is currently in the testing phase. The sensor relies on a special kind of super-sensitive atoms, in which at least one electron has been excited to a very high energy level. If the sum of energies of photons emitted by lasers used for this purpose equals the energy difference between the basic state and an excited state, the electron goes into an excited state. Such atoms, known as Rydberg atoms, have already been tested in state-of-the-art transmission systems. Army engineers believe they can prove to be a powerful instrument for the reception of a broad range of signals over the entire radio frequency spectrum.
Atoms in a glass vapor cell are excited with laser beams to Rydberg states. They detect the electric fields (coming from the gold antenna in the background) and imprint the information back onto the laser beams.
Besides their wide operating spectrum, size is another important advantage of the quantum sensors. They are very small and practically undetectable. Scientists have confirmed that the technology is able to outcompete other electromagnetic sensors currently in use. They are now working on increasing their sensitivity and deploying them in real-life military applications.
Uploading camera screenshots to an FTP server
Hikvision IP cameras and NVRs allow to save screenshots on a remote server. The screenshots can be taken at specific time intervals (e.g. every second) and used e.g. to create basic surveillance video websites or to visualize the progress of road works. Screenshots can also be triggerd by an alarm event, such as motion detection. The necessary information includes:
- IP address and port number of the FTP server providing the service,
- user name and password,
- directory details,
Viewing NVR footage from a remote building.
When the CCTV NVR is located in a building other than the video monitoring center, the network should be built and configured so as to permit the remote viewing of NVR footage. This requires the use of a managed mode switch and Signal HDMI-to-IP converter (H3613), which allows to connect a HD signal source to an HD-enabled receiver (TV, monitor) via an IP network.Remote buildings are best connected through optical fibers, e.g. L79212 and switches should be fitted with SFP modules (L1403). If you use HDMI converters, choose VLAN switches to create a separate transmission network for converters. Using an N29962 switch and VLANs will also make it possible to create separate IP monitoring networks in two buildings (the N29962 switch will power IP cameras supporting the 802.3af or 802.3at standard).

Mounting TERRA MR-9xx multiswitches in RACK cabinets.
The ZMD-1 R77311 front assembly component is composd of two elements. It has holes dedicated for mounting TERRA MR-xxx multiswitches (the spacing of holes: height 120 mm, width 100/140/180 mm). The set includes the necessary M5x10 screws and nuts. The vertical spacing of the elements is adjusted so that the cables connected to the multiswitch input connectors have enough space to maintain the minimum bending radius. It is even possible to install Signal R48602 surge protectors. The set includes eight screws with caged nuts, used to assemble the unit in the cabinet. Front assembly component for TERRA MR-xxx multiswitches (R77311)
Designed in 2018 by DIPOL engineers, the RACK board allows installers to make use both of the front and side surfaces of 19" RACK cabinets, which are accessible after dismantling the side walls. The solution enables an unprecedented volume filling factor of the cabinets, while maintaining good access to all signal distribution devices, with proper ventilation, connection transparency, application of patch panels to connect all inbound and outbound cables. All the features make it easy for technicians to diagnose the network during operation.
RTSP stream path in Hikvision cameras and DVRs/NVRs.
RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol) is a protocol used in multimedia data transfer applications. Thanks to the availability of RTSP paths in IP cameras and DVRs/NVRs, the video stream can be easily intercepted and embedded, for instance, on a website. The stream is available in Hikvision IP cameras and HDTVI/IP DVRs/NVRs. The RTSP video stream can be played using many commonly available apps or browser plugins. The VLC Media Player is one of the most popular. In order to play the stream, choose the "Open Network Stream" option in the task bar and then type in the URL into the prompt box.View of the VLC Media Player window once a substream from the K17721 DS-2CD2625FWD-IZS camera has been added.

The "id" is the number of the channel and the stream, e.g.:
- 101 - channel one, main stream,
- 102 - cannel one, substream,
- 201 - cannel two, main stream,
- 202 - channel two, substream.
In order to gain direct access to the main stream or the substream in a Hikvision camera, use the "id" 101 or 102, respectively. To stream the IP camera RTSP stream on YouTube, first convert the RTSP stream to RTMP using popular software such as OBS Studio.
DRAKA A-DQ(ZN)B2Y outdoor cables are the best solution for outdoor applications. The cables can be placed without any additional casing pipes on roofs, walls, in telecommunication ducts, and even directly in the ground, but using pipes is a good practice, recommended at all times regardless of cable type. The most important features of these cables:
- they are highly UV resistant,
- they are easy to draw (slippery coating),
- they have high tensile strength (3000 N),
- they have a gel-filled central tube to prevent moisture inside the cable,
- they are reinforced with aramid yarn for basic protection against rodents.
DRAKA U-DQ(ZN)BH universal cables can be used both inside and outside buildings. The halogen-free LSZH jacket meets the relevant fire resistance requirements. By employing a cable of this type, you eliminate the need to change cables at the entrance to the building. Otherwise you would need to use a joint box and splice together fibers of two different cable types.
Typical universal cable: DRAKA U-DQ(ZN)BH 4E (L76004)
Universal DRAKA cables share many of the advantages of outdoor cables, such as a gel-filled central tube and aramid yarn reinforcement to ensures basic protection against rodents. Compared to similar cables by other manufacturers, they also boast excellent strength parameters. Their maximum installation pulling force equals 2000 N, just a little inferior compared to typical outdoor cables. The outer jacket is UV resistant, but in the long term (more than ten years), cables with a PE sheath will fare better in this respect. For this reason, universal cables should ideally be used outside along with PVC or similar casing pipes.
