3D heart printed from living cells.

A team of Israeli scientists managed to print a heart with a vascular system, capable of contraction! As for now, the size of the heart from a 3D bio-printer is different from the standard dimensions of the organ of an adult. The printout has the size of a rabbit's heart, but the anatomical structure and biochemical functions of the human organ.
Professor Tal Dvir, the head of the team of scientists, confirmed that this is the first such case when they successfully managed to design and print the vascularised heart from living cells. To create a bio-ink containing pluripotent stem cells, they used patient's cells taken during biopsy. The advantage of stem cells is the ability to differentiate into any type of cells – the desired type was, among others, heart muscle cells.
The process of creating a printed heart includes taking cells from the peritoneum, "reprogramming them" to the desired type, and then creating a bio-ink used to create a vascular system – in this particular case the blood vessels of the heart.
The organ formation from the stem cells of a particular patient reduces the risk of organ rejection, due to identical biochemical properties. Scientists believe that in the next few years 3D bio-printers will be the equipment of many hospitals around the world. The next stages of research will deal with solving the problem of giving the right rate of cell contraction and 3D printing of the smallest blood vessels. In the coming years, printed hearts will be tested on animals.

DVB-T encoders/modulators in antenna systems.

Devices for SMATV systems are increasingly built in compliance with RACK standard, which allows for placing them in RACK cabinets guarantying optimum protection and operating conditions. An example is the four-channel HDMI toDVB-T encoder/modulator ST-6510 R86804. The modulator has HDMI and CVBS + audio inputs. The device can effectively distribute four high definition HDMI signals (high quality is ensured by H.264 video encoding with AUTO bit rate adjustment of each signal, or optionally MANUAL adjustment within 2...6 Mbps range). The output RF multiplex can be configured so that to combine it with other TV signals.

ST-6510 R86804 HDMI→DVB-T COFDM modulator suitable for mounting in a 19" RACK cabinet.
The output DVB-T RF channel (one digital multiplex) can carry signals from four HDMI sources.
The source signals may come from multimedia players, DVRs, Blu-ray players, PCs, STBs etc. The source signal may come from a multimedia player, DVR, Blu-ray player, PC, STB etc. Thanks to full support for HDCP protocol, there are no restrictions on the signal. Modulators without HDCP support, in spite of the compatibility of HDMI connectors, cannot process HDCP-protected source material or will transmit it in lower resolution, with inferior quality. Thanks to high RF output level (100 dBμV) and MER of 35 dB, the modulator can be directly connected into large S/MATV systems, without a need for additional amplifiers.

Application of a simple fiber optic distribution frame.

The diagrams below show an application of a low-cost L51340 optical fiber distribution frame as a RACK splice module. In the frame, eight of 12 fibers of the L76012 universal cable have been terminated, with the use of L3551 pigtails and L4211 adapters. The adapters are mounted to a front panel, using the screws provided with the frame.
Due to possible further expansion of the frame (4 fibers are not terminated), one of the front panels has been protected with SC Simplex blank plugs, and another, due to low probability of use, has been replaced with L51342 blank front panel guaranteeing protection against dirt, dust, etc.
ULTIMODE RPU-324 L51340 and L51320 optical fiber distribution frames are perfect for terminating optical cables with single-tube or tubeless construction

Control of entrance gate via Hikvision Villa IP video door station.

IP Villa gate/door stations have relay output that can control a door/gate with electric strike. Often, however, there is a situation in which the owner requires the control of the entrance gate. This functionality is provided by the additional module equipped with a relay, DS-K2M060. The unit, designed for cooperation with access control systems and IP video door phones of the Hikvision brand, is equipped with the RS-485 and Wiegand communication interface. The module has a relay output and a dedicated input for connecting a local opening button. In the case of connection to a Villa series gate station, it is possible to open the additional entrance using connected monitors, application on a smartphone, PC client application and the local open button.

Transmission of HDMI and USB signals in IP networks.

Signal-HD HDMI to IP converter H3613 enables the user to connect remote (up to 100 m) source of HD content to HD-enabled television/monitor, using one CAT5e/6 cable. USB ports of the units located on both ends of the link also allow for remote control of e.g. a DVR/NVR, with a mouse or keyboard. With such a solution, the recorder can be placed in a secure room and operated from any other room, with only the monitor and mouse on the desk. So far, a similar solution required the application of a PC and the recorder had to be connected to the LAN.
Normally the maximum length of the UTP cable in an Ethernet network cannot exceed 100 meters. The same applies to the presented solution. However, there are simple methods that help overcome this barrier. The first method is the use of a device operating in the second network layer, e.g. a switch. With this solution, the maximum distance can be increased to 200 m.

The application of a switch can extend the transmission distance of HDMI and USB signals to 200 m
Another and the most flexible method involves fiber optic technology, i.e. the change of the transmission medium. For example, using the pair of TP-Link MC110CS L11223 Ethernet media converters, the range can be extended up to 20 km.

The easiest way to add a device for viewing surveillance video in a mobile application.

A Hikvision device can be added to Hik-Connect or iVMS-4500 app by manual entering its IP address or by scanning its QR code. The QR code can be scanned directly from the housing of the device, or it can be generated by it (in the case of a camera or DVR/NVR). In the latter case, it is visible in the configuration menu. Adding a device in this way simplifies the installation by eliminating the need to manually enter the IP address.
If devices are already added to the mobile application, you can easily share them with another person. All you need to do, is to go to the Generate QR code tab and select the devices you want to share. The newly generated QR code can be scanned by another smartphone.

How to protect devices against the effects of overvoltages in large CCTV systems? In installations with long outdoor sections of copper cables, the greatest hazards are surges/overvoltages arising from atmospheric discharges. They usually occur in the video signal lines (twisted pair or coaxial cables). The CCTV systems can be protected by using specially designed surge protectors... >>>more
