Autonomous taxis took to the streets.

Waymo LLC, subsidiary of Alphabet Inc., launched its first semi-commercial autonomous car service in a metropolitan area. The work on the project has already been continued for almost a decade, and the first tests began a few years ago.
"Waymo One" taxi is a fully self-driving and self-navigating car. The whole system is installed in the Chrysler Pacifica minivan. The car has a huge number of sensors and cameras that allow for fully autonomous driving. The service officially debuted in four cities within the Phoenix - Chandler, Mesa, Tempe and Gilbert metropolitan area. The total area where the taxis can run is approximately 100 square miles (approximately 259 square kilometers).
Autonomous Waymo taxis in Phoenix
At the beginning, the Waymo service will be available only for the group of people who had previously tested autonomous cars for free in the Google's project. However, now they have to pay the appropriate amount for each trip, comparable with the Lyft or Uber price list. The rest of Phoenix residents still must wait for access to the service. Interestingly, despite the revolutionary announcements, the "driver" is still in the car - but only supervising the operation of the machine.
Many specialists who, until recently, were skeptical about autonomous cars, after checking the possibilities of the latest designs, often admit that vehicles taking passengers from point A to point B without driver participation can be widely available before 2030.

Transferring devices in Hik-Connect app.

The latest version of the mobile application for Hikvision CCTV systems increases its functionality by the ability to transfer devices between accounts. The device to be transferred will be removed from the old account and assigned to the new account (along with full rights and access to configuration). Until now, it was only possible to share the device (which meant that it was still assigned to the initial account and the other user had no access to the configuration options). The transfer of devices is very useful e.g. when installers end their jobs and should provide users with full access to the installed devices.
The transfer option is available in the "Settings" menu of the added device

Converting DVB-T and DVB-S/S2 signals to IP.

IPTV is a method of delivering television and video content which uses technologies typical for computer networks instead of traditional methods based on coaxial cables.
DIPOL offers IP streamers that allow for management and distribution of terrestrial, CATV, SAT TV channels within Ethernet (LAN) networks based on twisted-pair cables.

How to properly pull out optical fibers from the tube?

Installing fiber optic cabling, the installer should use appropriate tools. There is no place for half measures - the use of tools other than those recommended may result in the risk of damaging optical fibers, which often means serious consequences and financial losses.

Among many activities performed during the installation of fiber optic cables, the most difficult ones include cutting out windows in tubes. The windows are shaved in order to pull out the desired fibers from the tube without disturbing the rest of them, while maintaining the continuity of the tube. Operations of this type are often performed in fiber optic splice closures located on poles carrying multi-fiber trunk cables, where, from a given pole, one or two fibers have to be dropped (as a subscriber link or a branch of the network).
How to use the MSAT-5 L5925 tool
(source: YouTube)
MSAT-5 L5925 Mid-Span Access Tool from Ripley allows easy access to optical fibers in loose buffer tubes with five diameters, from 1.9 mm to 3.0 mm, without risk of damage. It can be safely used for cutting windows in DRAKA universal cables with up to 16 fibers (the tube of the cable with 24 fibers has a larger diameter).

Antennas for LTE.

In many cases where the mobile device is at a longer distance from the base station or is shadowed by various obstacles there are problems with adequate signal strength. Usually the problems can be solved by connecting the modem to a suitable external/outdoor antenna. Sometimes such an antenna can also be used for the improvement of the communication with a concrete base station offering e.g. the advantages of LTE-A standard, or just higher data transfer rates due to a lower number of users. In each case it is important to buy broadband antennas that can operate in the "old" and "new" LTE bands and can provide the advantages of band aggregation.
LTE technology is flexible both in the terms of the frequency range and bandwidth of the transmission channel. LTE Advanced is a further extension of the LTE standard. Owners of devices compatible with LTE-A can theoretically reach transfers up to 300 Mbps, which is possible by the aggregation of several frequency bands. The download speed up to 300 Mbps and upload speed up to 50 Mbps is enabled by the connection of two bands in different frequency ranges, for example in the 1800 MHz and 2600 MHz frequency ranges (LTE FDD). So, when selecting LTE antennas, it is important to pay attention to their bandwidth and choose those that support the new data transmission techniques.

Why is the calibration of fiber optic splicers important? The calibration of a fiber optic fusion splicer consists in adjusting the power and temperature of the electric arc to the current environmental conditions. Properly adjusted arc parameters guarantee high quality of the splices, both in terms of optical attenuation and mechanical strength. Therefore, the calibration should always be performed before splicing operations - at the beginning of work or in the case of changing the environment (e.g. from indoor to outdoor part of a system, especially when the difference in temperature between the locations is high)... >>>more
