Sad, but true - CeBIT canceled!
Deutsche Messe AG announced the cancellation of next year's edition of one of the most popular electronics fair in Europe - CeBIT. The fair has been organized by Deutsche Messe AG since 1986 - the event took place every year in Hannover. At the fair, anyone could meet the largest manufacturers of computer hardware, software, mobile solutions and learn about the latest technological solutions.
In the 90s of the last century, the fair attracted large numbers of visitors, which oscillated around 850,000 in that period. Unfortunately, the last editions of the event recorded smaller and smaller numbers of visitors (around 100,000-120,000) as well as a decreasing number of companies booking exhibition space at the fair. The first signs of a more serious crisis have already appeared 4 years ago, when the event was visited by only 200,000 people.
Companies and visitors to CeBIT are likely to move to other fair locations such as the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona or the IFA trade show in Berlin.
Organization of inbound antenna cables in RACK cabinets.
RACK board vertical mounting system in RACK cabinets allows for installation of multiswitches, amplifiers, splitters and other components of SMATV systems in RACK cabinets. The components of a multiswitch SMATV system mounted on the ZMB-1-800 panels placed on the sides of a RACK cabinet can feed satellite and terrestrial signals even to 256 subscriber outlets. The signal cables from the antennas (both satellite and terrestrial) are connected from the rear, through the R48602 surge protectors, to the F connectors on the 19" patch panel. Each front F connector is connected through the R82540 bridge with the corresponding F connector of the next patch panel, from which the signal is applied to the devices located in the cabinet (to the first splitter or amplifier). The use of the bridges makes it very easy to measure the input signals. The technician can just pull off the bridge to access the required F connector with the input signal.
To employ the surge protectors to the F connectors of the patch panel connector, the F-f/ F-f adapters should be replaced with longer ones sold as E80380. This professional adapters, in addition to the guaranteed attenuation and matching parameters, have thread lengths of 14 mm, which ensures passage through the patch panel and effective screwing on of the surge protectors.
Modern WiFi network in a building - TP-Link EAP devices.
The TP-Link EAP access points provide flexible and secure solutions for the implementation of wireless networks that are easy to install and manage. The APs can be easily mounted to walls or ceilings. WLAN configuration and management are simplified through centralized management software. TP Link EAP devices also provide captive portal and automatic RF management, making them ideal for high-density, demanding business environments, such as campuses, hotels, shopping malls, offices.EAP Controller Software (or the N2560 hardware controller) enables centralized configuration and management of the wireless network composed of multiple EAP devices. The functions include real-time monitoring, graphical analysis of network traffic and batch firmware updates.
Captive portal provides a convenient method of authentication for Wi-Fi guests. A captive portal requires users to perform certain actions (such as viewing and agreeing to an acceptable use policy or entering a password) before network access is allowed. The required action must be verified by a server or customized database prepared by the administrator.
The TP-LINK EAP series consists of:
- N2560 - EAP System Controller: TP-Link Omada Cloud Controller OC200
- N2562 - Wireless Access Point TP-LINK EAP110, standard N 300 Mbps (2.4 GHz), passive PoE

Cybersecurity thanks to the cloud.
Virtually every DVR and every IP camera has a connector that allows for connecting it to the Internet. Thanks to the internet connections, the users can configure the equipment, preview live images, play back recordings. However, any device connected to the Internet is exposed to cyber attacks, i.e. unauthorized access. To minimize the risk, the installers of the systems should follow the rules for building a secure system. An important aspect of the construction of a "digital wall" is the proper protection of the connections. Some manufacturers of CCTV equipment enable access via the cloud. The cloud, which is the producer's server network, provides encrypted access to the registered devices. Such connection is possible only through dedicated applications (on a PC and a smartphone).
The connection security is guaranteed by the producer, that's why it is worth choosing among renowned companies and asking for certificates. For example, the Hik-Connect service provided by Hikvision (the largest CCTV equipment manufacturer in the world) has the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification. This means that it meets the requirements set out in the generally known and internationally recognized standard for information security management.

Determining distances of events in optical paths with a reflectometer.
Measurements of optical paths with the use of a reflectometer carry a lot of information. In fact, the reflectometer measures time intervals (the times of return of the generated pulse) and the power of the reflected signals. Other information, such as distances and attenuation, contrary to popular opinion, are not measured but calculated.Installers usually want to precisely determine the place of an event (splice, connector, macrobending etc.) or the exact length of the cable. One of the key issues here is the correct setting of the group refractive index value for the measured fibers (Index Of Refraction - IOR parameter). This parameter is set manually and its value should be provided by the manufacturer of the cable. It provides information on the velocity of the pulse propagation in a given fiber. Each, otherwise doped fiber will differ slightly in this respect. Due to the fact that the information about the distance of the event comes directly from the measured pulse return time, which in turn depends on the propagation speed, a wrong setting of this parameter will cause erroneous readings of the distance.
With measurement parameters set correctly, the GRANDWAY FHO3000-D26 L5828 reflectometer
can determine the location of an event with accuracy close to 1 m
can determine the location of an event with accuracy close to 1 m
Typically, the value assumed for single-mode cables is 1.471 (the actual value should be read from the catalog card). The longer the distance, the greater the negative impact of the wrongly set refractive index. The table below shows the dependence of the error of determining the distance on longer connections from the difference between the set and actual values of this parameter (it has been assumed that 1.471 is the correct, actual value).
| ||||||||||||
The value of 1.481 is typical for multimode fibers. So, it can be seen that neglecting the change of this parameter for single-mode fibers may cause significant distance errors, and thus eliminating the ability to determine the precise locations of events.
It is also worth remembering that in practice the distance seen on the reflectometer screen will never match the actual length of the cable. This is due to the fact that the fibers in the cable are always longer than its outer jacket (to avoid stresses). In addition, if the fibers are placed in several tubes wrapped around the central rod, then the difference between the length of the fibers and the length of the cable will increase even more (inside the twisted tube, longer than the cable, there are loose fibers). In extreme cases, the difference in length of the fibers relative to the length of the cable can reach even several percent.
Since IOR values are given for fibers and not for cables, the really precise measurements are possible after obtaining the "effective" value of the IOR parameter for the analyzed cable. In order to determine it, it is necessary to measure the length of a section of the cable (e.g. 50 to 100 meter long) both physically (usually it is enough to use the meter markings, if exist) and with the use of the reflectometer, entering the standard refractive index. By introducing the correction factor resulting from the comparison, it is possible to correct the IOR value so that it represents the effective value.
SIGNAL RAL7035 19" Rack Cabinet (6U 450 mm, hanging) R912018W is suitable for mounting all sorts of devices in standard 19" rack housings, as well as some devices not compliant with this standard, for example multiswitches, RF amplifiers, modulators, DVRs, servers.
