Space Egg - another step in the evolution towards smart hotels.
In September, during the Cloud Computing Conference in Hangzhou, China, Alibaba AI Labs presented "Space Egg" robot equipped with an AI assistant. Alibaba AI Labs, division of a Chinese online sales giant, developed the robot to quickly and efficiently deliver snacks and drinks ordered by hotel guests to their rooms. In the near future, such bellhops will work in Chinese hotels."Cosmic Egg" is very functional. Thanks to Tmall Genie artificial intelligence assistant and integration with smart devices in the hotel, guests can order by voice commands and gestures various room services, such as delivery of some products. Already in front of the guest's room, Cosmic Egg is signalling its presence, and after the door opens, it makes sure that the order is picked up by the right person thanks to facial recognition technology. The robots move around the hotel in autonomous way. With embedded maps, laser and radar sensors, they avoid collisions with obstacles and people. The Space Egg intelligent robot moves at around 3 km/h speed.
For now, the robot is tested at selected hotels in China. After the tests, AI Labs will determine if "Space Eggs" can work in hospitals, restaurants and offices.
Power supply and video through one cable in the HD-TVI system.
Power over Coaxial (PoC) is a method of transmitting video and power supply via the same coaxial cable. In HD-TVI systems, PoC is the analogy to PoE (Power over Ethernet) in IP CCTV. One coaxial cable is sufficient for proper operation, and no additional accessories are needed. Thanks to PoC, the installation of HD-TVI systems is much faster and cheaper. The PoC functionality has to be implemented both in the installed cameras (they have E letter in the last parts of their names) and DVRs (marked with /P). A DVR with PoC function detects the availability of a PoC module in the connected camera (in the case of a camera without this feature the power is not supplied). Hikvision manufactures cameras in PoC.af standard (majority of PoC models, max power consumption of 6 W) and in PoC.at version (models with more powerful IR illuminators and/or with motozoom lenses, max power consumption of 12 W). By default, a PoC DVR can power all cameras in PoC.af standard (the number of them can be the same as the number of channels). The application of PoC.at cameras reduces the overall number of cameras that can be powered in this way (one PoC.at camera consumes power equivalent to the capacity of two channels).
Hikvision achieved FIPS 140-2 certificate.
Hikvision, the world's leading provider of innovative security products and systems, proudly announced obtaining the FIPS 140-2 certification (U.S. Federal Information Processing Standard), which is another important step in Hikvision's cybersecurity program.FIPS 140-2 is a U.S. government encryption standard created by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) that is a division of the U.S. Department of Commerce. FIPS 140-2 is used by federal government agencies in the U.S. and Canada, as well as in regulated industries such as finance, healthcare, commerce. Hikvision's encryption module (HIKSSL) received Level 1 FIPS 140-2 certification for use both in IP cameras and NVRs.

"Hikvision firmly believes that the video surveillance industry should be adopting the same standards that are used by governments and highly regulated industries," said Dr. Wang Bin, Chief Officer of Hikvision's Network Information Security Laboratory and Network Security Department.
FIPS 140-2 is used and referenced by numerous standards bodies and international testing organizations, including the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Global technological companies such as Apple, Microsoft, Cisco, and Google have achieved FIPS 140-2 validation.
The FIPS 140-2 validation process is very comprehensive, and includes a series of rigorous tests conducted by an independent and accredited U.S. security laboratory, in compliance with NIST requirements.
Hikvision takes cybersecurity seriously and abides by all laws and regulations in the countries in which it operates. With a record of strict regulatory compliance, Hikvision products meet industry leading standards for safety and security that include ISO 270001, ISO 9001:2008, CMMI Level 5, and AICPA SOC.

How to distribute video streams from IP security cameras in (S)MATV systems?
IP cameras do not generate video signals but data streams. The information cannot be distributed to televisions with the use of typical modulation methods employed in the case of analog cameras. The injection of the video information from IP CCTV cameras into an RF distribution network (a private or shared antenna system) requires application of intermediate devices. So far, the most popular solution has been the use of digital HDMI - DVB-T modulators (capable of transmission up to Full HD 1080p@60 Hz). The HDMI signal carrying the video information from one or a number of IP cameras is available at the monitor output of the IP NVR in the IP CCTV system. In the case of one HDMI signal, it is sufficient to use a single channel HDMI to DVB-T modulator, otherwise one will need a multi-channel HDMI to DVB-T modulator (max. 4 channels). But what about the situation when the number of the IP cameras that should independently provide the video and sound information is much higher, e.g. 12?DIPOL offers IP (100/1000 Mbps) to 4x DVB-T transmodulator mix-440 R81611. The newest firmware version of the device, 2.04, has been extended with conversion of RTSP streams from IP cameras to DVB-T COFDM standard. This functionality enables the addition of information from IP cameras, encoded in H.264 or H.265 standard, into TV distribution systems, without a need for other devices (NVRs and DVB-T modulators).
Mix-440 R81611 converts IP stream provided in UDP/RTP protocols (unicast/multicast SPTS
and MPTS transmissions) and RTSP stream (from IP cameras) to DVB-T COFDM standard

Operating a computer/DVR/NVR from a distant room.
The Signal-HD HDMI to IP converter enables the user to connect a remote (up to 100 m) source of HD content to an HD-enabled television/monitor, using one CAT5e/6 cable. The set includes transmitter and receiver units. USB ports in the units allow for remote control of e.g. a computer/DVR/NVR etc. by using a mouse or other device. The IP signal coming from the transmitter of the H3613 set may be applied to an Ethernet switch to split it among multiple receivers. The bit rate of the compressed signal at the output of the transmitter is about 15 Mbps (multicast transmission). The output signals can be properly decoded only by the dedicated H3613R receivers - it cannot be done by network cards/adapters installed in PCs/laptops.
Distinguishing features:
- HDMI transmission via a single Cat. 5e/6 cable
- UDP/IP protocol
- Support for 1080p mode
- Maximum length of cable: 100 meters
- USB extender

Optical power meter and light source - reference measurements.
Measurements of optical paths attenuation with the use of the transmission method is the basic way of verifying the quality of the links. Using an optical meter and a calibrated light source, the installer is able to determine the total attenuation of individual optical fibers and connectors. When the measuring devices are connected via adapters installed in distribution frames or boxes, it is necessary to take into account the additional measuring patch cords. Theoretically, such patch cords have a relatively small attenuation of about 0.2 dB, however installers using the same patch cords in subsequent installations may deteriorate their transmission parameters, i.e. unintentionally increase the initial signal attenuation. In order to eliminate the influence of the additional patch cords on the measurement results, the measurement system should be calibrated on a regular basis.

Calibration of the measurement system
The calibration of the measuring system or so-called reference measurement consists in eliminating the attenuation brought by the measuring patch cords from the measurement results. It is obtained by connecting the light source and power meter directly via the patch cords and adapter. The measured attenuation is then reset by pressing the "Ref" key on the meter. Then the measurements of the tested optical paths are made in relation to the previously obtained "zero".
HDMI to IP Converter/Extender: Signal-HD (1x5e, wall-mounted) H3621 enables the user to connect remote (up to 100 m) source of HD content to HD-enabled television/monitor, using one CAT5e/6 cable. The set includes transmitter and receiver units. The transmitter and receiver units should be mounted in electrical boxes (minimum depth of 80 mm). | ||
