RED Hydrogen One - smartphone with a holographic screen.
RED company, known for producing high-resolution professional cameras such as "Weapon" or "Epic-w", will launch an amazing smartphone with a holographic screen called "Hydrogen One". The information that has been released shows that the device will be equipped with a 5.7" screen capable of displaying 2D, 3D and holographic content. The smartphone will have a modular construction with pogo pins placed on the back, allowing for connecting RED cameras and additional accessories expanding its capabilities. This makes possible, for example, to attach various lenses of well-known brands such as Fuji, Canon, Nikon or Leica. One of the unique features of this smartphone is a new screen technology, which the company calls "4-View". It will allow the user to switch the screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 px from the standard 2D view to 3D or holographic mode. How does it work? Under the LCD display there is a special layer that, when switched on, is able to direct the light in many directions instead of the two that occur in typical lenticular displays. So, the screen simultaneously displays several dozen images, increasing the viewing angle at which the user can see the content with three-dimensional effect.
RED company plans to create a streaming service to deliver holographic content, as well as to allow, for example, to view the face of the interlocutor in holographic mode. RED also claims that, using its own algorithms, is able to process the sound coming out of the Hydrogen One smartphone so that to create a virtual surround effect. Despite the fact that the manufacturer has not revealed many details about the smartphone yet, it is now possible to place pre-orders. The model with aluminum housing costs USD 1195, and the titanium version will be available for USD 1595.

New security procedures when connecting Hikvision IP cameras using Onvif protocol.
From the v5.5.0 firmware version, all Hikvision IP cameras by default block communication via Onvif. This is dictated by the need for increased security, which is also improved by disabling unnecessary camera functions. What's more, Onvif connectivity is additionally secured by a special account with a password for this connection. Before this change, the connectivity was possible through a default account for Onvif .The user who wants to use the Onvif communication must activate it on the camera in the Integration Protocol tab in the Network > Advanced Settings submenu. It is also necessary to create an account used to authenticate the connection.
Measurements of satellite DVB-S/S2 signals.
The lack of a meter makes it impossible to quickly and accurately set the satellite dish, which significantly hinders the correct implementation of the entire SAT TV installation. DIPOL has introduced a new DVB-S/S2 Signal meter, WS-6916 HD R10821. The WS-6916 meter can effectively measure parameters of DVB-S2 broadcasts, especially of transponders providing HD channels. The meter has a built-in tuner/receiver that allows constant monitoring of the set channel. The preview of channels on the screen and intuitive operation is a guarantee of quick implementation of each system. The device measures signal level expressed in dBμV, C/N ratio, MER and BER - the set of parameters allowing for precise positioning of individual elements of the antenna system (dish, LNB) and, in the case of more extensive systems, optimal setup of multiswitches and amplifiers.DVB-S/S2 meter Signal WS-6916 HD R10821 with built-in FTA tuner/receiver

HDC-270P - new IP Signal camera with H.265 video compression.
DIPOL offers new model of IP Signal compact camera with 4 MP image resolution - HDC-270P K1887. The built-in 2.8-12 mm varifocal lens has viewing angle within 90° - 26° range. Along with IR illuminator with range up to 40 m, the camera can also operate in complete darkness. Thank to the implementation of several video compression methods, including H.265 and H.264, the camera can operate in IP CCTV systems based on modern Hikvision IP NVRs with H.265 compression (the DS-76/77NI-I, DS-76/77NI-K series support H.265+, H.265, H.264+, H.264 video compression), and in systems with previous models supporting only H.264 standard. The IP66-rated housing of the camera protects the electronics against adverse weather conditions, so that the camera can be installed outdoors. The camera can be powered conventionally with a 12 VDC source or with the use of PoE option (802.3af).Yagi-Uda antennas - from theory into practice.
The Yagi-Uda or Yagi antenna is one of the most popular antenna designs. Despite a comparatively simple construction, it has a high gain, typically greater than 10 dBi. Yagi-Uda antennas can operate in the HF to UHF bands (3 MHz to 3 GHz), but often within a limited bandwidth around the center frequency. The basic geometry of a Yagi-Uda antenna is shown in the diagram below. The antenna has only a single active (driven) element, typically a half wave dipole or folded dipole. It means that only this member (W) of the structure is excited (fed/driven via a feed line from a generator). The rest of the components are parasitic elements (passive radiators) and they help to transmit the energy in a particular direction. The dipole is almost always the second element from the end (the left side in the diagram), with a length to make it resonant at the center frequency (in the presence of passive elements the optimal length of the dipole is somewhere between 0.45-0.48 of the wavelength).

Geometry of Yagi-Uda antennas
The element behind the dipole is the reflector (R). This element is slightly longer than the active element. Generally, there is no need for adding more reflectors, as they would improve performance very slightly. The reflector is important in determining the front-to-back ratio of the antenna. So, the presence of it reduces the relative level of the back-lobe radiation of the antenna pattern and therefore reduces the amount of power radiated in the direction opposite to the intended, increasing the antenna gain. The increased length of the reflector with respect to the active element provides two benefits. First, the longer element reflects the wave more effectively, so increases the antenna gain. Second, if the reflector is longer than the resonating dipole, its impedance has inductive character (the phase of the voltage along the reflector is ahead of the current).
An example of Yagi-Uda antenna is ATK 10 800-980 MHz A7015. The 10-element outdoor directional antenna is designed for receiving and transmitting cellular signals. The gain of the antenna is above 10 dBi, up to 12.8 dBi in the upper part of its 800 MHz to 980 MHz operating band. The features make it ideal for use with cellular Internet modems. The antenna is short-circuited for DC/LF current.

Among a number of improvements, two of them seem the most interesting for installers:
- The possibility of switching on audio commands - the splicer, through the speakers of the smartphone running the app, informs the user about the next stages of splicing and communicates problems and errors. The messages are available e.g. in English and Polish.
- Possibility of locking and unlocking the splicer from associated smartphones - only through them it is possible to unlock and operate the device. There is also an option to define a temporary unlocking (based on the date and time or the number of splices that can be made). After the end of the unlocking period or completing the number of splices, the splicer is blocked.
The second functionality may be useful when unauthorized persons may have access to the device or when the splicer is borrowed by a subcontracting company. Such protection guarantees that the device will only be used for the agreed task.

Single-cable TERRA dSCR multiswitches. Manufacturers of multiswitches and satellite receivers are becoming more and more convinced of the advantages provided by Unicable technology. An increasing number of satellite receivers available on the European market support the SCR/Unicable system in accordance with EN50494 and/or EN50607 standard. The implementations of the appropriate software dedicated to the individual receivers / set-top boxes enable their use in SMATV systems based on single-cable multiswitches distributing a full range of digital DVB-S/S2 signals.
