Electronic ID card soon in China.

WeChat - a popular Chinese messenger and the largest social networking site in China is now completing tests of the pilot electronic personal ID card program in Nansha District. The project developed in cooperation with the government and banks arouses great interest - 30,000 people registered just on the first day of access to the service. Currently, the access to the service is extended to the entire Guangdong province. The digital ID card will be a full-fledged ID card - Nansha authorities have even stated that ordinary paper ID cards will no longer be needed.

To get the digital ID card, the applicant has to prove their identity with his/her paper ID card, which is additionally confirmed by face recognition and verified by his/her telephone number. The digital ID is issued both in the basic version, where the most important but less sensitive data enable identification of the user, and in the full, extended version containing more detailed information. The ID card in electronic form is honored by all services and offices, both online and offline, and recognized by most banks, online stores, etc.
WeChat has been very popular since its creation in 2011, with over 980 million monthly active users in 2017. The application is continually developed, so it evolved from a messaging app to a multi-platform application "for everything". For example, it includes mobile payments, a system of booking visits to doctors, ticket booking, a system for companies and their employees for keeping track of annual leave days and expenses that need to be reimbursed. The application integrates a browser, has its own internet search engine and several other functionalities. Through integration with the system of digital ID cards, it will become the most important application for the Chinese.

PoC - the equivalent of PoE in HD-TVI video surveillance systems.

PoC - Power over Coax - is a new system allowing for transmission of power supply via the video coaxial cable. As the cabling carries power along with the video signals, the installation of the system is considerably simpler - each camera is connected with the system via single coax or a pair from minimum cat. 5e cable. In the latter case, the baluns have to support the PoC function (e.g. DS-1H18 M16641).
The PoC functionality has to be implemented both in the installed cameras (they have E letter in the last parts of their names) and DVRs (marked with /P). A DVR with PoC function detects the availability of a PoC module in the connected camera (in the case of a camera without this feature the power is not supplied). Hikvision manufactures cameras in PoC.af standard (majority of PoC models, max power consumption of 6 W) and in PoC.at version (models with more powerful IR illuminators and/or with motozoom lenses, max power consumption of 12 W). By default, a PoC DVR can power all cameras in PoC.af standard (the number of them can be the same as the number of channels). The application of PoC.at cameras reduces the overall number of cameras that can be powered in this way (one PoC.at camera consumes power equivalent to the capacity of two channels).

Conversion of HDMI to DVB-C.

The basic classification of RF modulators is usually based on the kind of the output signal. Digital modulators can provide signals in DVB-T or DVB-C standard. Further division criteria relate to the number of sources that can be connected to one device, the range of output channels, and in the case of DVB-T modulators, the number and type of inputs.
DIPOL offers now a new model of HDMI modulator, Johansson 8202 R86901. The device is a single-channel modulator. The input HDMI signal (up to Full HD 1080p) fed to its HDMI socket is modulated into digitally modulated RF signal (called multiplex, mux or transponder) in DVB-C (QAM), DVB-T (COFDM), DMB-T or ATSC standard. All parameters of the modulator are set with the use of the knob and display placed on the top of the device.

The modulator fully supports HDCP protocol, which means that it can modulate and distribute in the DVB-C standard any HDMI signal. The source of the signal can be, among others, a multimedia player, Blu-ray player, DVR, PC, STB decoder.

LTE users should apply broadband antennas.

LTE technology is flexible, both in terms of frequency and width of the transmission channel. Depending on requirements, LTE networks in Europe operate at frequencies from 700 MHz (in rural areas - broader range) to 2.6 GHz (metropolitan areas - better propagation in buildings).
LTE Advanced is a further extension of the LTE standard. The download speed up to 300 Mbps and upload speed up to 50 Mbps is enabled by the aggregation of two bands in different frequency ranges, for example in the 1800 MHz and 2600 MHz frequency ranges. So, it is important to buy broadband antennas that can operate in the "old" and "new" LTE bands and can provide the advantages of band aggregation.
TRANS-DATA LTE KPZ 8/8 A741023 is an outdoor MIMO directional panel antenna designed for communication between an LTE/GSM/3G modem and cellular base station(s). The antenna is especially recommended for use with LTE modems due to very wide frequency operating range (806-960 MHz and 1710-2700 MHz). This range guarantees full support for the LTE bands and technologies that are currently used or can be applied in the future.

Breakout units for easy access cables.

Easy access cable is a solution that specifically facilitates the distribution of fibers in multistory buildings such as offices and multifamily houses. Thanks to the unique design of the cables, the individual fibers are easily accessible and can be pulled out from the breakout windows to lengths up to 30 meters. In addition to saving space in vertical cable shafts, the application of easy access cables definitely reduces the installation time compared to conventional installations based on star topology where separate optical fibers go from server/technical room to users' outlets.

The elements necessary for deployment of systems based on easy access cables are dedicated breakout units. They provide adequate protection for the breakout windows cut in the cable tubes, shelter the pulled out fibers and keep them in proper position with permissible bending radius. Finally, they are used to attach the cables to the building structure.
The optical fibers deployed between the distribution points (breakout units L5351 for four fibers or distribution boxes L5352 for six fibers) and the premises of the subscribers, are to be protected by drop/distribution tube VC-TUB L7211. When a window is cut out, but currently no fiber is led out, the suitable protection for the cable is provided by VertiCasa cover L5350.

Saving and loading lists of license plates for the DS-2CD4A25FWD-IZS camera.

The DS-2CD4A26FWD-IZS/P K17893 (2.8-12 mm) or K17894 (8-32 mm) camera can be used for license plate recognition (LPR) and control (via alarm output) of a boom gate to a housing development, without a need for a DVR. In the case of the autonomous operation, it is necessary to import the list with "white" (allowed) and "black" (prohibited) license plates/vehicles. In the autonomic mode the list can have up to 2048 rows. Such a solution can automate the control of the access to the development. The installer/administrator can edit the list after logging on to the camera and going to Configuration -> Road Traffic -> Blacklist & Whitelist submenu. The Export tab enables the user to export the current list (with *.xls extension) to a computer (to save it on the hard drive). It is possible to change and enter the suitable data in every three cells of each item (row) in the list:
  • N.O. - ordinal number,
  • Plate Num - vehicle license number,
  • Group (0 - black list, 1 - white list).
View of white/black list import window of the K17893 / K17894 camera
View of the window with the editable list of license plates (file with the *.xls extension)
After updating and saving the list, it is necessary to go again to the Configuration -> Road Traffic -> Blacklist & Whitelist submenu. The next step is to click the Browse button and indicate the location of the saved file, then click the Import button to transfer the file to the camera. The last step of the configuration procedure is made in the Configuration -> Road Traffic -> Detection Configuration menu (activation of license plate recognition, selection of the detection area, arrangement of a schedule, choice of the reaction to the appearance of a white-listed or a black-listed car - the state of the alarm output).
