Remote monitoring of human vital functions - SiDLY Care.

Polish company SiDLY has developed an innovative remote care system that allows monitoring of patients at a distance. The system consists of three components: wristband, mobile application and internet platform. This telemedicine band can monitor the state of an elderly or other person requiring care. The wristband provides the following information: heart rate, body temperature, movement, fall, GPS location. The patient can also press SOS button. SiDLY Care combines simplicity and convenience. The discreet and easy to use system does not absorb unnecessary attention of users and caregivers. The caregivers can perform daily duties while being kept informed about the most important parameters of the patients.
One of the most important functions of the SiDLY Care system is HeartSecure, which monitors the heart rate of the patient. HeartSecure allows for defining correct heart rate range in order to receive immediate notifications of abnormalities. This way it is possible to detect most diseases of this organ and prevent dangerous situations that could be life-threatening. The results are displayed in the mobile app and monitored 24/7 by the carer's platform. SiDLY Care also has other features: SkinWatcher (skin temperature measurement), SmartDetector (detecting fall-over incidents), CareButton (SOS/alarm button in case the patient feels unwell), LocationTracker (automatically activated by pressing the CareButton), PillManage (reminding the patient to take medications at the right time), StepChecker (analyzing physical activity), AirMonitor (taking medical measurements and monitoring environmental and atmospheric conditions to find out the possible reason for the patient's lack of comfort).

TERRA SMATV system.

ARNDEX company has installed SMATV system for about 140 users in a multifamily building (with 3 staircases and 6 stories) in Krakow. The master antenna set provides satellite signals from two satellites (Hotbird 13.0E and Astra 19.2E), terrestrial DVB-T broadcasting stations (in VHF and UHF bands) and FM radio stations. The whole system has been based on TERRA solutions and devices.
The master antenna set consists of: 120 cm satellite dish IDLB-STCF INVERTO A9649 with two quatro Inverto BLACK Ultra A98266 LNBs, DIPOL 19/21-60 DVB-T UHF antenna A1911, DIPOL 7/5-12 DAB/TV antenna A0710, and FM antenna A0210. The whole signal distribution network has been based on TERRA MV-9xxL multiswitches.
The system includes TERRA SA-91L R70901 amplifier for 9-input multiswitches, which is also the power supply for other active components. The signals distributed to apartments located within each of the three staicases are provided by SD-9xx splitters and taps and MV-9xx multiswitches with suitable numbers of outputs. Especially valuable feature of the solution is the remote powering of the multiswitches from the amplifier. This eliminates the need for connections to AC power network in places where the multiswitches have been installed.
The wiring has been made of Triset-113 cables - the E1017 gel-filled cable with black PE coating has been laid outdoors, on the roofs of the buildings, and the E1015 white cable with PVC sheath has been deployed inside the buildings. TRISET cables are compliant with Construction Products Regulation (CPR) and EN 50575 harmonized standard that specifies reaction to fire performance requirements, test and assessment methods for electric cables used in construction works. High reliability of the system is also achieved by the application of professional MASTER E80342 compression connectors.

Deployment of professional WiFi networks in buildings.

TP-LINK access points of EAP series provide flexible and secure solutions for the implementation of wireless networks that are easy to install and manage. The APs can be easily mounted to walls or ceilings. WLAN configuration and management are simplified through centralized management software. TP Link EAP devices also provide captive portal and automatic RF management, making them ideal for high-density, demanding business environments, such as campuses, hotels, shopping malls, offices.
EAP Controller Software enables centralized configuration and management of the wireless network composed of multiple EAP devices. The functions include real-time monitoring, graphical analysis of network traffic and batch firmware updates.
Captive portal provides a convenient method of authentication for Wi-Fi guests. A captive portal requires users to perform certain actions (such as viewing and agreeing to an acceptable use policy or entering a password) before network access is allowed. The required action must be verified by a server or customized database prepared by the administrator.
The TP-LINK EAP series consists of:
  • N2562 - Wireless Access Point TP-LINK EAP110, standard N 300 Mbps (2.4 GHz), passive PoE
  • N2566 - Wireless Access Point TP-LINK EAP220, standard N 600 Mbps (300 Mbps @ 2.4 GHz and 300 Mbps @ 5 GHz), PoE 802.3.af
  • N2567 - Wireless Access Point TP-LINK EAP225, 802.11ac 2.4 & 5 GHz, PoE 802.3af
  • N2570 - Wireless Access Point TP-LINK EAP320, 802.11ac 2.4 & 5 GHz, PoE 802.3at
  • N2568 - Wireless Access Point TP-LINK EAP115-Wall, 802.11n 300 Mbps, PoE
  • N2569 - Wireless Access Point TP-LINK EAP110-Outdoor, 802.11n, 300 Mbps, PoE

Signal Fire AI-7 - splicing fibers in optical distribution frames in a multifamily building.

Signal Fire AI-7 L5880 has 6 motors that quickly and precisely align the fibers before splicing. The average splicing time is 8 seconds, and sleeve heating time is only 15-20 seconds. The characteristics make the splicer ideal tool for deploying FTTH systems in multi-dwelling units with large numbers of splices.
Below we present pictures taken in one of the newly built residential buildings. Each of the 77 apartments in the building has been connected to the optical infrastructure with L7102 two-fiber flat cable. All the cables are grouped in technical room and terminated in RACK panels. The 144 splices have been made with the use of the Signal Fire AI-7 L5880 fusion splicer.
In accordance with the applicable recommendations, the total attenuation of such subscriber links should not exceed 1.2 dB. The measurements can be performed with the use of the L5825 optical laser source and L5821 optical power meter.

H.265 encoding in new-generation analog CCTV systems.

Video compression performed by the DVR recording CCTV information has a direct impact on the size of the data set. The better the compression, the smaller the volume of the data and capacity requirements for the hard drive(s). In the case of high resolution cameras (above 2 megapixels), the use of very efficient encoding becomes an absolute necessity. Turbo HD 4.0 systems support the latest H.265 and H.265+ video encoding.
H.265 (HEVC - High Efficiency Video Coding) is currently the most efficient video compression method. Compared with H.264, H.265 can reduce by half the data stream, which translates into proportional savings of the disk space or extended data retention time. H.265+ is Hikvision standard based on the original system and optimized for CCTV applications. It further minimizes the data streams in typical video surveillance scenarios. A comparison of the efficiency of different video encoders is shown below (source: Hikvision).
H.265/H.265+ - higher compression ratios with preserving video quality provided by H.264
One of the most noticeable changes is the replacement of macroblocks (16 x 16 px) with CTUs (Coding Tree Units) with a maximum size of 64 x 64 pixels. The image coding algorithm is much more advanced and determines the size of the units. Larger size usually improves coding efficiency. Further increase in efficiency is provided by features such as:
  • parallel processing of many parts of the image
  • improved motion estimation algorithms
  • greater precision of motion vectors, increase in the number of directions from 9 to 35
  • fast adaptive motion estimation algorithm
  • improved deblocking filters
One of the improvements introduced in H.265 is the replacement of macroblocs with larger CTUs.
Larger size of the coding units usually increases coding efficiency.

Access control with the use of SATEL PK-01 door control module.

The PK-01 G6405 module is used for electronic control of doors wherever it is convenient to use this form of access control and where there is no need to install a larger system. The option of entry or exit authorization using codes or proximity cards/fobs makes it a very versatile device - it is enough to connect a 12 VDC external power supply and electromagnetic lock to get a fully functional configuration. The programming of the module and management of the cards and codes is performed with the use of the administrator code. The module has output relay with 2 A switching capacity, which can be connected in series with 12 VDC power supply, e.g M1825, and a door strike. It also has two OC-type outputs and 2 inputs dedicated for connecting a door open sensor and a door open button. The users can open the door with codes and 125 kHz RFID transponders such as RFID key rings G6805. The capacity of the module memory allows for saving up to 50 RFID transponders (cards, key fobs) and 50 user codes.
Below there is an example of simple access control to a house, based on the SATEL PK-01 G6405 standalone door control module. The module is mounted at the entrance gate and powered with the M1825 12 VDC power supply. After authentication of a user made by the pass code or passive transponder, the door strike is energized from the power supply through the relay output of the module. On the other side of the gate/wicket door there is a local opening button, inaccessible from the outside area. With this solution, there is no need to install second module. The opening time of the electric lock (adjustable within 1...255 s range) should be set so that it is easy to reach the door and open it. Of course, the door handles should be made inactive or replaced by door knobs. In the event of a power failure, the door should be opened with plain keys.
