Amazon Key - another revolution from the internet giant.

You are not home and you want to pick up the shipment? Nothing can be simpler - it will soon be possible, provided you shop in the world's largest online store, Amazon. Amazon Key will allow customers to forget about waiting for the courier. The service will deliver shipments when they are away from their homes. To make this possible, you need to equip yourself with the appropriate equipment (of course offered by Amazon), webcam and WiFi-connected door lock. This is all to ensure the correct and safe processing of the entire transaction. For this convenience you must pay at least $300.
Amazon Key - a new service offered by the internet giant
The principle of the whole system is simple. The courier arrives in a traditional way to check if someone from the residents is at home, just by calling or knocking on the door. With no response, he or she scans the package and Amazon verifies the correctness of the address of the delivery with the actual address. If that's correct, Amazon remotely opens the door. The camera inside the home records the entire process so that the customer can be sure that the whole operation has been limited to the delivery of the parcel. Amazon has announced that the service can also be available for other purposes, such as letting in a cleaning company or guests during our absence. The launch date was set for November 8th. At the beginning, the service will be implemented in the US and available in 37 US cities. Will it be safe? Amazon ensures that it will carefully verify the courier companies and guarantee full safety of the service.

New generation of HD-TVI system - Turbo HD 4.0.

HD-TVI system allows for transmission of analog high-resolution video via coaxial cable or twisted pair cable (with the use of dedicated baluns). The latest Turbo HD 4.0 version has already been implemented in Hikvision cameras and DVRs. The most important changes to the previous generation are:
  • increase of the maximum image resolution supported by cameras and DVRs - 5 MP and 8 MP,
  • more efficient video compression used for video recording - H.265 i H.265+,
  • better image sensors with sensitivity of 0.005 lx,
  • introduction of POC system - transmission of video and power via the same cable,
  • option of remote updating of analog cameras.
Common features of the 4th and 3rd generations:
  • high compatibility with other systems: AHD, HD-CVI and IP,
  • long maximum transmission distance (1080p: 800 m via RG-59 cable, 400 m via UTP cable),
  • high immunity to interference,
  • no delays,
  • natural view of live action due to video transmission without any compression.

DVB-T encoders/modulators in antenna systems.

Devices for SMATV systems are increasingly built in compliance with RACK standard, which allows for placing them in RACK cabinets guarantying optimum protection and operating conditions. An example is the single-channel HDMI→DVB-T encoder/modulator - WS-8901U R86201. The modulator has HDMI and CVBS + audio inputs. The device can effectively distribute high definition HDMI signal (H.264 video compression, bit rate up to 20 Mbps). Additional RF input (ANT IN) can be used for combining the output RF signal with other TV signals.
HDMI - COFDM (DVB-T) Modulator: WS-8901U
WS-8901U R86201 HDMI→DVB-T COFDM modulator suitable for mounting in a 19" RACK cabinet
The source signal may come from a multimedia player, DVR, Blu-ray player, PC, STB etc. Thanks to full support for HDCP protocol, there are no restrictions on the signal.
Modulators without HDCP support, in spite of the compatibility of HDMI connectors, cannot process HDCP-protected source material or will transmit it in lower resolution, with inferior quality.
Thanks to high RF output level (100 dBμV) and MER of 35 dB, the modulator can be directly connected into large S/MATV systems, without a need for an additional amplifier.

GSM amplifiers/repeaters solve indoor signal coverage problems.

The devices are ideal for locations where the range of a cellular network allows for use of mobile phones out of buildings, but is insufficient for indoor operation. Such locations include some remote places (long distances to base stations), but more often rooms in old buildings with thick walls or in basements and cellars (e.g. pubs, coffee shops). A strong barrier can also be modern windows with panes covered with metallic layers.
Installation of a Signal GSM repeater:
  • find a place outside building with a good GSM signal (880-915 MHz and 925-960 MHz bands),
  • mount the outdoor antenna (usually A741030) so that it is directed towards GSM base station,
  • choose a location for installing the repeater somewhere inside the building to place the indoor antenna in the central part of the building/hall/room to be covered,
  • check if the distance between the outdoor and indoor antennas is at least 10 m,
  • install the Signal GSM-305 repeater in the suitable place in the hall/room (away from heaters etc., ensuring natural ventilation),
  • be sure that the antennas are connected to the dedicated, marked sockets,
  • connect the N93319 power supply to 230 VAC outlet and to the amplifier.

Implementation of an ODF.

Below we present an example of ODF (Optical Distribution Frame), based on rack-mountable fiber optic box ULTIMODE MT-524 L5124 and front panel ULTIMODE P-24SC L5541. The implementation includes:
  • installation of the box in a rack cabinet
  • installation of the tray for splices
  • mounting brackets for the spare fibers
  • installation of adapters
  • arranging the fibers coming from the optical line
  • arranging pigtails
  • fusion splicing
  • protecting and arranging the splices in the dedicated holders
The front panel has been equipped with eight multimode LC duplex adapters L4155. The free places can be used in the future, along with the installation of another tray (the 1U L5124 box can accommodate two such trays).

Intercom function in Hikvision NVRs.

Hikvision DS-7604NI-K1 K22044 is a modern IP network video recorder capable of monitoring, recording and playing back images from four megapixel IP cameras at frame rates up to 25 fps from each camera. The NVR has audio input and output, which enables two-way audio communication between operators or between an operator and anyone by a camera with built-in or external microphone (connected to the audio input in the camera).
The video from the IP cameras plus bidirectional audio information is transmitted according to IP protocol as a data stream, thus it can be easily distributed e.g. between buildings (in LAN network) or over longer distances (on the Internet). The intercom functionality can be used by operators for convenient voice communication, for rapid response in the case of incidents etc. To allow the communication, the AUDIO OUT of the NVR has to be connected to an active loudspeaker (with built-in amplifier) and the AUDIO IN to a suitable external microphone. If the monitor connected to the NVR has built-in speakers, there is no need for an external speaker (the monitor can be connected via HDMI cable, or VGA cable and audio cable). Of course, the second surveillance post must also be equipped with a microphone and a speaker. A diagram illustrating voice communication between two posts is presented below.
