Drones will transport blood.
The AirVein project is meant to be a revolution in health care. This pilot project is aimed at faster blood transport - also at long distances. Special drones will be used for this purpose. The National Center for Research and Development in Poland is to sign a contract for the implementation of the venture planned for 24 months (the value of the project is about 7 million PLN) with Pentacomp Systemy Informatyczne S.A., supplying tailored IT solutions, and Novelty RPAS, Polish manufacturer of unmanned systems.Drones used for this type of tasks will have a high standard of security and increased functionality. Great emphasis has been placed on the high quality of mechanical and electronic equipment, such as reliability and redundancy of control systems, and the application of rescue parachutes. Particular attention is paid to the dampening of vibration due to increased risk of physical and chemical changes in the transported blood.
It is crucial to provide an adequate source of energy. The electric motors could be powered not only from batteries but also using fuel cells. The drones are just one of the components of the system. The entire project is to include ground infrastructure (landings, loading platforms, hangars, service facilities etc.) and advanced navigation technology.
The AirVein system becomes a reality. The coming years seem to bring a revolution in this branch of medical rescue.
Distribution of satellite TV and terrestrial signals with the use of Unicable technology.
The new series of TERRA dSCR multiswitches employs single-cable technology (Unicable) that allows for distribution of DVB-S/S2, DVB-T, DAB and FM signals via single coaxial cable. The dSCR acronym means digital Satellite Cable Router, sometimes called channel stacking switch, which converts the received satellite signals to so-called user bands (UBs) that can be received by the connected receivers compliant with the technology. The converted transponders are combined and sent via the single coaxial cable to all the receivers. The communication between the dSCR multiswitch and the receivers uses special protocol defined in the EN50494 (Unicable I) and/or EN50607 (Unicable II) standard, with DiSEqC commands. In the diagram below, the A9648 satellite dish with A98257 quatro LNB, terrestrial antennas, and two TERRA SRM-521 R80521 multiswitches provide the combined satellite and FM/DVB-T signals to all the Signal R-TV-SAT R694100 outlets via two single coaxial lines (and passive satellite splitters/taps, not shown in the lower part of the diagram). The necessary condition for independent reception of satellite channels via each outlet is the use of satellite receivers supporting Unicable protocol defined in the EN50607 standard (in the case of a system with up to 8 outlets they should support at least the EN50494 standard).

Manufacturers of satellite receivers/STBs increasingly implement Unicable solutions. In many cases, legacy receivers/STBs which have not been originally provided with that option can be adapted to it by firmware update. A list of popular satellite receivers available on the Polish market and supporting single-cable multiswitches is provided below:

Novelty on the market of fusion splicers - Signal Fire AI-7.
Installers interested in buying a fiber optic welder should consider the purchase of the very attractive Signal Fire AI-7 L5880 fusion splicer. It has all the features typical of top Japanese or Korean products. Because of the speed of operations and long battery life, the device is ideal for all types of installations, including those with hundreds of splices.Signal Fire AI-7 L5880 fusion splicer
Features of the splicer essential for installers:
- 6 motors from Siemens for precision fiber positioning,
- splicing time from 8 seconds,
- short sleeve heating period, from 15 s,
- fully automatic core alignment - normally it is enough to put the fiber ends into the holders,
- x300 magnification factor in both axes for visual inspection of the splice by the installer,
- configuration with dedicated smartphone app (Android/iOS),
- the app can create operation reports (export to xls files),
- possibility of recording images of unsuccessful splicing operations for diagnostic purposes,
- long-life electrodes (3000 splices, plus spare set included),
- high-capacity exchangeable battery (7800 mAh, ca. 200 splicing and heating operations),
- large set of accessories (it is necessary to buy only Alcohol-soaked Wipes),
- high quality practical toolbox providing a solid and stable support.
Special HDDs for DVRs/NVRs.
Western Digital hard drives of PURPLE series have been purpose-built for surveillance digital video recording systems based on video servers and/or DVRs and operating in 24/7 mode. The series offers superior performance, high capacity and long-term reliability. The drives are designed to work non-stop in systems processing and recording audio and video, on any platform (PC, standalone DVRs, NVRs, servers). The PURPLE series is a further development of the RED family. The modified firmware functions minimize the risk of loss of image frames due to errors or heavy load (AllFrame), as well as the power consumption (rotational speed controlled by IntelliPower function). The drives have 64 MB buffer size and SATA 3 (6 Gbps) interface. In general, PURPLE drives have a much better performance than their counterparts dedicated to PCs. The special features include:
- surveillance-class storage with minimized risk of loss of image frames
- specially designed for the harsh 24/7 always-on, high-definition surveillance environment
- caching algorithms tailored to the requirements of CCTV systems, characterized by a high intensity of write operations, comparatively low data rates and a large number of simultaneous data streams
- priority change for write allocation and preemptive caching policies
- TLER and ATA streaming support
Low-cost IP CCTV system based on Hikvision EasyIP Lite cameras.
Such a system based on Hikvision cameras and NVR is shown in the diagram below. The cameras come from EasyIP Lite series characterized by high image quality and very attractive price. The cameras support typical alarm events such as motion detection and video tampering, as well as offer corridor mode and possibility of defining one Region of Interest (ROI). The facility is monitored by 2 MP cameras with 2.8 mm lenses (viewing angle of 105°) and IR illuminators with range up to 30 m. Outside the building these are DS-2CD1021-I K17812 compact cameras, whereas inside it the function is performed by DS-2CD1121-I K17282 ceiling cameras. The Seagate 2 TB HDD M89271 installed in the Hikvision DS-7608NI-E2/A K22081 IP NVR can store the surveillance data from all the cameras for 5 days (continuous recording with 2 MP resolution at 25 fps, 4 Mbps per channel, H.264) or even for 11 days (with the use of H.264+ video compression and reduction of the data stream to 2 Mbps per channel). All the cameras are powered from the N29982 PoE switch. A wireless router, e.g. TL-WR1043ND N3253, allows the users to get access to the NVR via the local network and Wi-Fi.IP CCTV system based on EasyIP Lite cameras
Easy configuration of multiple devices in IP CCTV systems.
In one location there are often several IP cameras and/or NVRs. Most of the settings of the devices within one group are similar or even identical. Hikvision NVRs can be quickly configured by exporting a file with configuration settings from one device to the rest of them in the system. The import/export operations can be performed:
- locally via USB interface
- via the network:
- using iVMS-4200 software or a web browser - especially useful in the case of distant locations of the NVRs
- using Batch Configuration utility (part of Hikvision Tools)
Self-supporting Universal Cable ULTIMODE FC.E-2SM (2x G.657A2) L7202B is a universal single-mode fiber optic cable (two G.657A2 fibers, min. bending radius of 7.5 mm) in LSOH jacket, so it can be used outdoors and indoors. Strengthened with aramid fibers, the cable can withstand the load of 800 N at a span of 150 m, so is ideal for suspended lines, e.g. for connecting cameras and access points placed on poles. | ||
CAT 6A U/FTP Shielded Cable NETSET U/FTP 6A E1616_500 is a top quality indoor FTP CAT 6A twisted-pair cable designed for use in professional computer networks inside buildings.
