Wings Project - management of drones of different manufacturers.
Google X, the part of Google responsible for developing most amazing projects, has launched a research and development program focusing on shipments with the use of drones. Unlike the developers of existing projects (such as Amazon), Google has decided to deal with this issue in a much broader way.In addition to creating an unmanned droning delivery system and automatic route management platform, Wings Project is integrating unmanned aerial vehicle control systems in the airspace. NASA and FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) are involved in research into the ability to manage a large fleet of drones of different manufacturers. There were already the first official tests of the software.
The objects of the tests were three Wing drones plus Intel Aero Ready to Fly and DJI Inspire machines. The tests have shown that the UTM platform, UAS Air Traffic Management, can control multi-unit flight paths. The software uses Google Maps, Earth, and Street View services. This may be an important step to open the way to the future in which many UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) operators will carry out their services quickly, and above all safely.

Multiswitch system with 100 outlets in Krakow.
Dipvision company has installed multiswitch system with about 100 outlets for 40 subscribers in an apartment building in Krakow. The SMATV system distributes satellite signals from two satellite positions (Hotbird 13.0E and Astra 19.2E), terrestrial DVB-T broadcasts (available in VHF and UHF bands) and FM radio signals. The master antenna set consists of 100 cm satellite dish TRIAX 100 TD A9644 equipped with two A98257 Quatro LNBs, UHF DVB-T antenna DIPOL 19/21-60 A1911, VHF DVB-T antenna DIPOL 4/5-12 A0140, and FM antenna A0221. The SMATV system has been based on TERRA MV-9xxL multiswitches. The 9-cable bus is split into the floor subnetworks with the use of SD-9xx taps providing signals to MV-924L R70874 and MV-932L R70882 multiswitches. Before injecting into the multiswitch system, terrestrial TV and radio signals are amplified and equalized by the Telmor WWK-951 R89861 amplifier. The multiswitches are powered locally from PS182F 18V 2A R71465 power supplies.
The wiring has been made of Triset-113 cables - the E1017 gel-filled cable with black PE coating has been laid outdoors, and the E1015 white cable with PVC sheath has been deployed inside the buildings. High reliability of connections has been achieved by the application of professional MASTER E80342 compression connectors.
Fiber splicing for everyone!
The method of joining optical fibers with an electric arc, called fusion/thermal "splicing" or "welding" is the fastest and best one, taking into account connection parameters. Until recently, fiber optic splicers/welders were too expensive for people who installed fiber optic systems on an irregular basis. Such installers used mechanical splices or paid for external services. The situation has changed thanks to the appearance of cheap fusion splicers such as EasySplicer. They can also be recommended for technical schools, as great tools helping in the process of practical teaching of fiber-optic technology.EasySplicer L5810uses a proven method of laying fibers in V-grooves. The precise holders, which keep the previously prepared fibers, are designed in such a way that they eliminate the need of repositioning of the fibers. The positioning of the fibers in the X-axis (the distance between the fiber ends before the welding process) is performed automatically. This way the device combines the proven positioning technique with ease of use and very attractive price in its category.
View of the fibers prepared for splicing in EasySplicer L5810
For orientation purposes, it may be assumed that the cost of buying EasySplicer returns after 100-150 splices (if they were outsourced to a third-party service provider) or after about 500 splices (if they were replaced by mechanical splices). In the latter case, one should take into account the working time of the installer - a series of splices performed with the fusion splicer takes considerably less time. The fully automated splicing of the properly prepared fibers takes only a few seconds. By maintaining the required technological discipline, the user gets the same quality of each splice. The display of the device shows the estimated loss of the splice (usually ca 0.01 dB for multimode fibers and ca 0.03 dB for single-mode fibers).
The offered model has the maximum battery capacity available in the series (3400 mAh - with the current firmware it allows for up to 60 splicing operations). Fiber holders included in the kit are made in the latest manufacturer's version - plastic molding ensures repeatability and precision at the manufacturing stage, which translates into lack of operational problems. The included stripper is a universal tool suitable both for 900 μm and 250 μm fibers.
Hybrid video surveillance system (analog + IP).
Hybrid systems are used when existing analog CCTV systems with 75 Ω coaxial cables and analog cameras should be extended with IP cameras and when new systems should take the advantages of the both kinds of security cameras. Specific types of cameras should be selected considering the required image parameters, also taking into account the transmission of the surveillance video (e.g. the technical parameters of the existing cabling, transmission distances etc). In the case of the need for wireless transmission or application of fiber optic means, IP CCTV solutions are much cheaper. The simplicity of an analog system where each camera is connected with the DVR via individual cable is preferable in the case of smaller installations. Larger installations either combine the advantages of analog and IP technology in the form of hybrid solutions, or are entirely based on IP technology. It is always the decision of the designer to adopt a concept that is optimal for the user.A really flexible hybrid video surveillance system can be based on Hikvision DS-7616HUHI-F2/N M75916 hybrid DVR/NVR. It can contain 16 analog cameras (in HD-TVI, AHD, HD-CVI or CVBS system) and 16 IP cameras. Additionally, any analog channel can be independently switched off and replaced by IP channel, summing up to a total of 32 IP channels with support for IP cameras with resolutions up to 8 MP. Analog channels support cameras up to 3 MP at 15 fps. In the case of lower resolutions, the maximum frame rate for any analog channel is 25 fps.
Example architecture of hybrid HD-TVI / IP CCTV system based on DS-7616HUHI-F2/N M75916 DVR/NVR
If a hybrid video surveillance system should use only one or two IP cameras, the best choice is the application of an HD-TVI 3.0 DVR. The HD-TVI 3.0 DVRs support HD-TVI, AHD, HD-CVI, CVBS analog cameras and one or two IP camera(s), depending on the model (below there is a list of the DVRs with basic parameters).

Use of image analytics in IP CCTV systems.
Video surveillance systems are developing very dynamically. Several years ago, motion detection was practically the only alarm event used for streamlining the management and operation of CCTV systems. Nowadays, IP cameras offer advanced image analytics to facilitate the recording, classification and searching of important events. The examples include license plate detection/recognition, facial detection, detection of crossing a virtual line and/or intrusion into a defined area, detection of emerging and disappearing objects in a given zone. The use of such solutions makes it unnecessary to spend hours searching a lot of recordings. The "intelligent" functions can minimize the volume of the recordings as well as can make the searching process much easier and quicker.
The diagram below presents a scheme of IP CCTV system based on Hikvision IP cameras of Easy IP 3.0 series and Hikvision DS-7608NI-K2 K22074 NVR with H.265 video compression. A number of intelligent functions available in the cameras and supported by the NVR allow for creating a system where the searching for recordings will be very quick.
IP CCTV system based on Hikvision devices supporting intelligent image analysis
The cameras deployed around the building cover the whole area. The recording is triggered by alarm events in the form of motion detection, detection of intrusions into defined areas, detection of crossings of virtual lines. The detection areas has been defined in the cameras directed towards the entrance gate and wicket. In addition, the entire area around the house was covered with virtual lines. The detected direction of crossing the lines is from the fence towards the house.
The searching for recordings can be focused on the event that the user is interested in. If there is a suspicion that a person has entered the wicket or gateway, the search option should use the detection of intrusion into the areas. If someone could jump over the fence crossing a virtual line, it can be quickly found by searching the recordings using this attribute. The last but always important method is to search for recordings using motion detection. This will allow the user to quickly search for any incidents with minimized number of false alarms.
The cameras and NVR support ANR function, which ensures video recording on the memory cards inserted into the cameras in the event of network problems, and synchronization of the recordings with the NVR after restoration of communication. Both the cameras and NVR support H.265 video compression, so that the recordings can be stored 2 times longer than in the case of H.264, with the same disk capacity.

Construction Products Regulation (CPR) - new requirements for cables. The Construction Products Regulation (CPR) is a REGULATION (EU) No 305/2011 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 9 March 2011 laying down harmonized conditions for the marketing of construction products and repealing Council Directive 89/106/EEC (Construction Product Directive). The Regulation "lays down conditions for the placing or making available on the market of construction products by establishing harmonized rules on how to express the performance of construction products in relation to their essential characteristics and on the use of CE marking on those products."
In the case of wires and cables used as construction products, the CPR is based on the harmonized European standard EN 50575:2014, whose implementation date was set at July 1, 2016. Since that date, manufacturers/importers have had 12 months to fully comply with the new regulations and adapt to the new requirements. This means that from July 1st 2017 all installation cables should be treated as construction products and subject to appropriate regulations. The new regulations require manufacturers to issue Declaration of Performance (DoP), as well as label their products meeting the relevant standards with CE mark. The manufacturer, by drawing up his DoP, assumes the responsibility for the conformity of the construction product with the declared performance. EN 50575 specifies the requirements for the fire performance of cables which are used in permanent electrical systems in buildings, i.e. power cables, control and communication cables, fiber optic cables... >>> more

Hotel SMATV system with optical links. One of the main advantages of fiber-optic solutions is the complete immunity to ground loops, surges and spikes. This often overlooked fact may be in many situations the most important one. SMATV systems, due to antennas located on roofs of buildings, are particularly vulnerable to surges resulting from lightning. Despite proper grounding of all system components, some of the equipment of traditional SMATV systems can be irreversibly damaged. Notably, overvoltages can destroy not only the SMATV equipment, but in extreme cases also some user devices, such as satellite receivers or televisions. In contrast, fiber optic cable is a perfect insulator. This means that all the surges induced in antennas installed on a roof will not cross the optical transmitter - all other components of the system as well as user devices are fully protected... >>>more
