The world's first 5-nanometer silicon processor.
IBM Research experts in collaboration with partners from GlobalFoundries and Samsung have created the first working processor made in 5 nm technology. This is another revolutionary achievement of the same team that implemented a 7 nm test processor in 2015. This means a tremendous progress in the miniaturization of integrated circuits. The latest 5-nanometer chip was made using innovative technology. The lithography employed for the production of the chip was using extreme ultraviolet (13.5 nm - EUV). The new technology node required the use of narrower light beams to create the appropriate semiconductor structure. EUV ensures a huge improvement compared to the currently used ArF (argon fluoride) lasers with a wavelength of 193 nm (FUV - far ultraviolet). The use of the Gate All Around (GAA) process has enabled engineers to place as many as 30 billion transistors on a chip like a human fingernail. The current technology, based on FinFET transistors, has been further miniaturized using silicon and silicon germanium nano-sheets.In practice, the performance of systems based on the new chips could increase by 40 percent, compared to the current 10 nm leading solutions, while maintaining the same power consumption. Alternatively, it is possible to save energy by creating systems at the same performance level as the current 10 nm devices, reducing the power demand by 75% . The new chip introduced by IBM can be widely used in the future, especially in the fields of mobile and wearable electronics, in servers, as well as in IoT and machine learning systems.
Currently, the leading solutions are based on 10 nm processors, such as the Snapdragon 835. Samsung announced that it plans to begin production of 7 nm processors in early 2018, while 5 nm chips are expected on the market in 2020.
Broadband amplifiers in shared antenna systems.
House/building broadband amplifiers are used in shared antenna systems (MATV/CATV) to distribute antenna signals within passive networks. They compensate the attenuation of the distribution networks caused by splitters, taps, cables and antenna outlets. Fiber optic connections in homes.
L7102 is the first choice cable for applications in homes/apartments. Its high mechanical strength and small dimensions allow for easy and safe installation of the cable while maintaining a good level of aesthetics.To terminate the fiber with the quick assembly connector, the installer needs stripper for flat cables (SP-001 L5906), fiber optic stripper L5905, dust-free Kim-Wipes L5913, IPA solvent cleaner L5915, and a fiber cleaver, e.g. L5801. The required operations include: removing the outer coating of the cable at a distance of about 50 mm to reach the fibers (the second fiber should be cut off), removing the 250 μm coating on a section of about 20 mm, cleaning the fiber and cut it to 27 mm length. The prepared fiber, together with the cable, should be inserted into the connector (the fiber may be slightly bent) and clamped.
Signal-HD HDMI 2.0 splitter 1x4 H3215 enables the user to connect 4 modern televisions/monitors to a source of high-definition signal, both with HD/Full-HD or 4K resolution (up to 4k x 2k @ 60 Hz). The amplified output signals can be transmitted via HDMI 2.0 cables over distances up to 15 m. 4K video is currently used in modern CCTV systems, e.g. those employing K22165 NVR (4K@30Hz).

Looking at the table, one may notice that HD-TVI 3.0 cameras, compared to the previous generation, nearly double the transmission range (800 meters via the standard RG-59 cable), support 3-megapixel resolution, are equipped with Exir infrared illuminators and some models can be supplied with motozoom lenses.

Compared with H.264, H.265 can reduce by half the data stream, which translates into proportional savings of the disk space or into extended data retention time.
