Signal IP camera with motozoom lens - video monitoring of a detached house.

DIPOL has introduced another Signal IP camera characterized by very good picture quality and low price. The HDC-222PMZ K1878 camera is a perfect component for building small video monitoring systems. This compact camera intended for outdoor use (IP66) has been equipped with varifocal motozoom lens with 2.8 - 12 mm focal length range that allows for remote adjustment of the viewing angle from 90° to 26°. Its IR illuminator with range up to 40 m ensures effective operation without any additional lighting. The adjustment of the viewing angle is possible after logging on directly to the camera (via internet browser) or trough the NVR. It simplifies the setup of the system and allows the users to change the field of view on their own in the future. The cameras can be powered from the ULTIPOWER N29980 PoE switch supporting 802.3af standard. With this solution, each camera is connected to the switch via single UTP cable. The video streams from the cameras can be recorded by 4-channel Hikvision IP NVR DS-DS-7604NI-E1/A K22043. In order to access the NVR via the Internet or just Wi-Fi, one can connect a router, e.g. TL-WR1043ND N3253.

Pentabrid DVRs.

HD-TVI 3.0 DVRs are very versatile devices, capable of recording a variety of input video signals. The update 3.7.40 for the DVRs from the Hikvision HQHI-F series streamlines the support for AHD cameras and adds support for HD-CVI cameras. The kind of video signal is detected automatically and the inputs are autonomous (do not have to work in pairs for the same video standard). Additionally, 3 MP cameras are automatically switched to 2 MP resolution (the maximum recording resolution of this DVR series).
After the update, Hikvision DVRs of the HQHI-F series support the following signals:
  • HD-TVI (any input)
  • CVBS (any input)
  • IP (additional channels)
  • AHD (any input, max. recording resolution 720p)
  • HD-CVI (any input)

Multi-channel DVB-T modulators.

HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is a digital interface for transferring uncompressed video data and compressed or uncompressed digital audio data from an HDMI-compliant source device to a compatible receiving/displaying device. HDMI ports are widely used in multimedia players, DVRs, Blu-ray players, PC computers, STBs etc. to provide the output HD signals (up to 1920x1080 60p) to monitors, televisions, or projectors. Digital DVB-T COFDM modulators with HDMI inputs can convert such audio/video signals into DVB-T multiplexes that can be distributed via typical antenna systems to multiple DVB-T televisions.
HDMI - COFDM (DVB-T) Modulator: WS-7992 (2 channels)
HDMI - COFDM (DVB-T) Modulator: WS-7990 (4 channels)
The modulators with HDMI inputs provide excellent solutions for hospitals, stores and shopping malls, supermarkets and electronics stores in which HD content from one or more sources should be delivered to multiple TVs. Such devices are also ideal for MATV/SMATV systems integrated with video surveillance systems - they can distribute the CCTV channels from a modern DVR, containing video from security cameras. The images can be watched on any HD television connected to the antenna system. Currently, DIPOL is selling two new DVB-T modulators, WS-7992 R86702 (2 channels) and WS-7990 R86704 (4 channels).

Fiber optic transmission windows.

The transmission of data via optical fibers is usually performed in one (or more) "telecom windows" selected from the three (or sometimes even five) wavelength bands that are the most favorable for this purpose. The windows have been selected based on the characteristics of signal attenuation in the transmission medium.
There are three main causes of signal attenuation in optical fibers:
  • wave-guide loss - results from non-uniform, imperfect structure of fibers due to limitations of the production process. It applies to the geometry of the core and non-uniformity of the refractive index in the core and cladding;
  • absorption - light energy absorption by the particles of the fiber; it depends on the method of doping of the core in the manufacturing process and its cleanliness; an increased absorption is caused by chromium, copper, iron atoms and especially by OH- ions (moisture);
  • Rayleigh scattering - consists in scattering light pulse in all directions as a result of inhomogeneous refractive index in the core due small changes in the density or composition of the glass.
The selection of transmission windows has been based on the characteristics of signal attenuation
in the transmission medium caused by the waveguide, absorption, and Rayleigh scattering losses
Individual transmission techniques are implemented in specific telecom windows, e.g. DWDM multiplexing technique mainly uses the third and fourth windows. Thanks to technological advances in the production of optical fibers, it was possible to reduce the effect of OH- ions in the vicinity of the 1400 nm wavelength (G.652D fiber) and create another, the fifth transmission window.

Convenience and economy in the home.

F&Home RADIO is wireless intelligent building system dedicated for apartments, houses and business premises. Its concept and capabilities allow for the implementation of functions that so far seemed to be impossible, or available only to organizations and rich people. F&Home is a cheap solution, and its modular design allows for the division of the entire investment into stages spread over time. New features can be added to the system when needed. The initial system may consist of only a few elements (already offering a lot of opportunities for building automation), and, over time, can be expanded by additional modules increasing its functionality to provide better adaptation to individual needs.
A home system can be based on "scenes". A scene may be assigned to e.g. the time of day or any requirement of the residents. Here are a few scenes that may be executed automatically (depending on time of day), or triggered remotely by the users from their handhelds.
  • Morning Scene
    • Switching on the power outlet in the kitchen with connected e.g. a coffee maker,
    • Pulling up the shutters or blinds
    • Switching on the water heater
    • Raising the temperature of the air in the living room, kitchen and bathroom, for example to 22 degrees (Celsius).
  • Evening Scene
    • Reducing lighting to 40%
    • Switching on the power outlet in the bedroom with connected bedside lamp
    • Switching power for garden watering system (operating under additional conditions, such as insufficient moistness due to lack of rain)
  • Night Scene
    • Pulling down the shutters or blinds
    • Turning off electrical outlets in the kitchen
    • Reducing lighting to 30%,
    • Lowering the temperature of the air in the living room and kitchen, for example to 18 degrees
  • Nanny Scene
    • Starting the preview of the camera(s) located inside children's room
    • Activation of motion detection informing e.g. via SMS about unexpected events in predefined zones
  • Romantic Scene
    • Turning off the main lighting
    • Switching on LED (warm) lighting to 30%
    • Turning on gas fireplace
    • Pulling down the shutters or blinds
    • Switching on underfloor heating in the living room
