Samsung's "5G" technology faster than LTE.
Samsung Electronics, Korean giant in the field of consumer electronics, announced the development of fifth-generation wireless mobile technology. Of course, the purpose is to provide users with faster access to data services. The new 5G wireless technology will allow customers to stream the data even hundreds of times faster than the current fourth-generation 4G networks (LTE) not having time to dominate the consumer market so far.At present, the maximum transmission speed reaches 150 Mbps, while the new platform will allow users to download data at gigabit speeds, with base station capabilities to serve tens of Gbps! This means that the user will be able to download a feature-length movie or advanced game in seconds.
According to the report of Yonhap News Agency, the largest South Korean news agency, Samsung has successfully tested a next-generation platform using 28 GHz frequency band to transmit data at a speed of 1 Gbps over a distance of 2 kilometers. The antennas were composed of 64 elements.
The technology, still being developed and tested, will be available to customers not earlier than in 2020. Market observers agree that the information coming out of Asia is a prelude to the start of major international projects aimed at the development of 5G networks, their commercialization and the creation of an international standard for the platform.
Optical power meter GRANDWAY FHP1B02 L5821 measures optical power loss in fiber networks based on multimode and single-mode fibers. The meter is equipped with a tip that allows measurements of optical power in optical paths terminated with connectors with 2.5 mm ferrules. The kit includes FC/PC and SC/PC adapters. Due to small size and low weight the device is ideal for field applications. Ease of use, reliability and measurement precision are the key features of the device being a leading solution in the market.
Key features of the GRANDWAY FHP1B02 L5821 meter:
- device calibrated for the following wavelengths (nm): 850, 1300, 1310, 1490, 1550, 1625;
- measurements of absolute optical power levels in dBm/milliwatts or relative levels with respect to a reference level in dB;
- measuring range: -40...+23 dBm (1550 nm), resolution of 0.01 dB;
- two power supply options (rechargeable battery, AC/DC adapter).
The meter should cooperate with optical laser source GRANDWAY FHS1D02 L5825.
Fiber-optic SMATV system.
The advantage of optical fibers is the ability to transmit signals over much greater distances than in the case of coaxial cables. Fiber-optic systems are insensible to voltage and lightning surges. In contrast to copper medium, the fibers are insulators and are indifferent to the effects of exposure to radio waves, even of high intensity.A hybrid SMATV system with optical and copper cabling
The SMATV system shown above provides TV signals to residents of three apartment houses. The SAT-IF & DVB-T Optical Kit FibSZ-ODU32 A9880 receives satellite signals from one satellite in 10.7...11.7 GHz and 11.7...12.75 GHz bands, amplifies them and converts into 950 MHz ... 5.45 GHz IF band, combining them with DVB-T/DAB/FM signals. The combined signal is converted into optical form and available at the both optical FC/PC outputs. The signal is transmitted via single-mode fibers to the three buildings. Each of them has been equipped with SAT-IF & DVB-T Optical Receiver / Converter FibSZ-QUATRO A9882. The receivers/converters replicate satellite IF, DVB-T and FM/DAB signals in the electrical form. They have 5 outputs allocating the output RF signals as four SAT-IF polarization/band combinations (VL-HL-VH-HH) and terrestrial DVB-T + DAB + FM signals. All the signals are distributed in each building by the set of MV-524 R70724 multiswitches to 48 outlets R694100, via Triset Profi E1010 cable.
How to protect DVRs against unauthorized access?
In many cases the surveillance staff should not have physical access to the DVRs. The DVRs are often located in places with higher security levels, such as server rooms. In such situations, it is necessary to provide the surveillance staff with the video and access to control functions necessary for their job.The diagram below shows a monitoring system based on high-speed PTZ cameras PH-33 M1196. The Signal DL-8508 M78508 DVR has been placed in a dedicated room. The surveillance booth is located ca. 1 km away. The surveillance staff can control the PTZ cameras and oversee the video channels, but cannot change any settings of the DVR.

The video signals from the DVR to the surveillance booth and the control PTZ signals in the opposite direction are transmitted by sets of active Etrix video baluns M16742 and M16743. In the case of a much greater distance and possibility of use/deployment of a fiber optic cable, the task can be performed by ULTIMODE video converters.
The best way to protect the video footage against a loss is simultaneous recording of the images from the cameras on two media in two different physical locations.

The NVR Server application installed on a computer with sufficient disk space captures the data stream from the DVR and records it on the computer's HDD. The frame rate and image resolution is the same as of the material saved on the DVR. The access to the data is possible through the IVMS4000 or IVMS4200 application both at the computer (it is the recording server) and remotely, via the network.
The recording can be carried out according to the schedule defined on the server for each camera in continuous, motion detection, or mixed mode. The application provides information on the recorded channels, cameras, current disk space usage.

How to improve home WiFi coverage?
Wireless range extender TP-LINK TL-WA850RE N2946 is designed to increase the range and signal strength of an existing wireless network to eliminate dead zones. The device is compliant with N standard (speeds up to 300 Mbps). Due to small dimensions and integration with AC plug, it can be plugged into any AC outlet in a room. Thanks the Ethernet port, the extender can also be used as a WiFi card for any device equipped with Ethernet interface.Typical application of TL-WA850RE 300 Mbps N2946
The users can easily extend the range of their wireless networks without the need for any additional cables, just by placing the device within the range of an existing wireless network. They should press WPS button on their router and the Range Extender button on the device (in any order). The Range Extender button can also be used to quickly connect to other wireless device.

Full power management. The 8-port 19" rack-mount PoE adapter can transmit power to up to 8 devices via Ethernet cables. Its power supply connector (2.1/5.5) should be connected to a 12-28 VDC voltage source with the required current rating (max 11 A). The LCD display shows the actual values of the voltage, total current and power consumption. The information allows for full monitoring of the operating status of the connected power supply. The application of the 8-port PoE in a 19" RACK cabinet ensures better utilization of the space due to elimination of a number of power supplies and provides the possibility to use a single buffer/UPS power supply for multiple devices.

Compensation of voltage drops on power supply cables to CCTV cameras. For proper operation, a CCTV camera needs stable and efficient power supply. The tolerance for a voltage fall usually does not exceed 1...2 V, so, in the case of a longer low-voltage DC power line, it is necessary to compensate for an excessive voltage drop... more

Switches in optical systems. When creating a fiber-optic network and the interface between copper and optical installation, it is important to choose appropriate devices. In order to link two LANs based on copper UTP cables, the installer should consider one of the two basic solutions: using a pair of media converters, or two switches equipped with SFP modules. It is also possible to combine both types of the devices, i.e. an Ethernet media converter on one side and a switch with SFP module on the other. An example of a system with a fiber optic link connecting two subnetworks is shown in the diagram below... more
