The stand of Polish company Telmor was interesting not only because of the offered products...
As usual, there was presented a wide range of headend stations. TERRA products were one of the most interesting exhibit items.
This company is consistently developing systems for satellite reception. Its headends can be remotely controlled (the camera placed in the headquarters showed reaction of the headend to the commands from the stand). One of the headends features especially low noise level and can be used in optical networks. The second one is dedicated for hotels, boardinghouses etc.

Multiswitch installation in one-family home. Multiswitches become a standard also in one-family houses. An important advantage of this kind of solution is compatibility with DVB-S2 standard (HDTV broadcasts).
But the main benefit of multiswitch system is possibility of independent viewing of satellite programs with a number of satellite receivers, using only one satellite dish. Another advantage appreciated by the users and installers is easy modification that allows to realize the wishes of demanding customers. Building new installations it is important to remember about growing popularity of PVR equipment (a combined digital video recorder and satellite, allowing to record a different channel from the one being watched) - it requires to feed two satellite signals, with two coaxial cables.
Below there are diagrams of installation based on cascadable and radial multiswitches.
The former system is easier to expand, but knowing the target number of the outlets (including reserve ones), it is simpler to implement radial multiswitch, e.g. from the MSR series (active terrestrial path), or MSV series (passive terrestrial path).

Halogen-free TRISET cables. The new cables from TRISET family - TRISET-113 HF E1019 and TRISET-11HF E1029 are manufactured using HF (halogen free) technology. When burning, they do not give off toxic gases.
This feature allows to use the cables in public buildings (hospitals, schools, theaters etc). In such buildings there have to be used safe cables which, in the case of fire, do not pose any additional risk for people. It is not permissible to use compounds of chlorine, fluorine, bromine, or iodine - the halogen compounds hazardous to health (carcinogenic) that would give off in high temperature.
Cables in PVC sheath (containing chlorine) and those based on polyethylene and polypropylene (admixture of bromine) are halogen cables. In the mentioned halogen-free cables there are used more expensive aluminum compounds instead.
The halogen-free TRISET cables belong to NC/LSOH group, i.e. they do not emit corrosive fumes (Non Corrosive), or much smoke (Low Smoke), or, of course, halogen compounds (O Halogen - Zero Halogen - sometimes marked as ZH).
The both cables comply with EN 50268-1, 2 - (low smoke) and EN 50267-2-2 (non-corrosive, halogen free).
TRISET family has been awarded at SatKrak 2007 (international satellite trade fair in Krakow). Due to low loss, high screening efficiency, and perfect matching, TRISET cables ensure high performance of multiswitch systems and large cable installations (MATV, cable TV).

TRISET HF cables comply with highest safety standards and feature outstanding technical parameters:
  • high screening efficiency (A-class: above 100 dB),
  • low loss (at 2150 MHz: TRISET-113HF - 27.7 dB, TRISET-11 HF - 21.0 dB).

Is it a camera or a DVR? PiXORD P500 K1137 is IP camera that allows to record video locally on a USB device. The camera has been equipped with two USB ports allowing to connect PenDrive or hard drive with USB interface. With the best picture parameters, a one-hour recording requires 1GB memory.
Thanks to built-in software the camera is capable of continuous, schedule, or event recording (the latter - triggered by motion detection). This IP camera supports M-JPEG or MPEG-4 compression, or both at the same time (in "dual steram" mode). Real-time transmission of D1 (720 x 576) images (PAL) can be performed at 25 fps. PoE option allows to power the device via typical transmission cable (UTP etc.). The camera can be configured via Internet browser, the same that is used for viewing images and conveying sound, as well as for playing back the recorded files (from the external memory device).

There are visible USB ports for connecting external storage devices.
High resolution camera with audio. The SN-580CA M11215 camera has been equipped with 1/3" SONY CCD, with horizontal resolution of 540TVL. High sensitivity of the device (0.3 lx) allows to use this camera in difficult light conditions.
Another parameter that shows quality of the generated video is signal to noise ratio (S/N). The larger S/N, the better dynamics of the camera, i.e. the capability of generating sharp and clear images in various conditions. Good cameras feature S/N better than 48 dB (the useful signal is at least 256 times higher than noise). In the case of SN-580CA M11215, S/N is better than 50 dB, so the ratio is higher than 316.
It is one of the rare cameras on the market which is equipped with internal audio module. Its microphone is placed in the lower front part of the camera. It helps to get quality sound from the room the camera is situated in. In the case of using additional housing (usually for outdoor applications), the installer should employ an external microphone.

Monitoring of construction site. Everyday activity of the builders on the site is interesting both for the investor/developer and the building contractor.
The contractor, using IP CCTV, improves security (including health and safety), can document the course of work, supervise the sub-contractors, analyze possible stoppages. The investor/developer can monitor the pace of work, organization and commitment.
Because of temporary character of construction sites, the installations should be "mobile" at any phase of the undertaking. The cameras should be easily repositioned. It is provided by the use of wireless transmission, at distances up to ten or so kilometers. For the tasks there are employed sets of fixed, PTZ and megapixel IP cameras.
High-resolution images from the cameras (as well as sound and control signals) should be transmitted via high-capacity Wi-Fi access points. Such access points are described in one of the following paragraphs - Aphelion family.

has popularized use of CCTV cameras for monitoring of road construction
Operational requirements for CCTV systems - part 3. Possibility of exporting recorded files is the next task of effective video surveillance system. The main parameters include speed of transmission (the volume of transmitted data per time unit) and data format.
The requirements include:

  • the operator of the system should be able to export the recorded material (first of all - there should be available user's manual covering this issue),
  • the operator of the system should know the amount of recorded material and be able to assess the time needed for exporting the required file/s,
  • the system should enable the operator to export video clips and pictures to external storage devices - quickly and efficiently, with the time and date of recording,
  • the exported files have to be supported by appropriate software needed for playing them back,
  • the process of exporting the data should not affect any other function of the system,
  • the exported data should have the same quality as the original material.
Sharing of broadband access to the Internet (DSL) and/or creating a LAN. The connection is provided by the ISP (cable TV, DSL, or other operator) via Ethernet interface (it may be for example cable modem with RJ-45 socket).

Aphelion 600AG N2412 - continuity of data transmission. Deployment of reliable wireless networks includes means both for high capacity and for continuity of data transmission. It cannot be provided by typical access points - in the case of a failure of the wireless module the link becomes useless.

Aphelion 600AG N2412 has been specially designed for building strategic links. Its unique Fail-over function guarantees continuity of transmission in case of connection loss. In this mode the device will automatically switch over the second communication path. The time of switching to the Back-Up link is so short that the user will not practically notice this operation.
In Fail-over mode one of the radio modules of Aphelion 600AG is active, the second is in standby mode. In case of transmission problems, the second unit takes over the function, guarantying continuity of data transmission.
